I've gotten great tips on places from this site, judging from their posts these folks are either serious about their food, seriously overweight, or both: http://www.chowhound.com/boards/manhat/manhat.html

That isn't the guy. He was based on Soup Nutsy behind my old building....pure asshole...10 sec. to order or no soup for you.... great soup though. Here's his site: http://www.manhattansoupchef.com/chef.html
price is irrelevant in the quest for the perfect burger. Indeed. Squirrels Tavern in Downtown Corvallis, Oregon, Population 50,000 has the best burger and fries on the planet, in my humble opinion. $4.95. I perfers to wash it down with a pint of local apple cider, when it's in season. Otherwise, a Henry's will do. As fer Pizza, I just like Pizza, I don't get into semantics about it. I know what's good, and what's better than most. But I just like it. As fer New Yawk pizza, there was a place in St. Marks where I've gotten Pizza on several visits, it might have simply been called St. Marks Pizza. André
