NY Court Reinstates Ex-GS Programmer's Criminal Conviction

    You need to read the article again and really think about whether this developer was knowingly stealing from his employer. If the article is true, what this guy took was insignificant and would not harm Goldman Sachs. To put him in jail 7 years is unconscionable.

    It sounds like you would have no problem putting one of your ex-employees into jail for years if they took any insignificant data from your company. I would not want to be one of your employees.

    Don't worry, you probably wouldn't be! But somehow I've never lost an employee except to a family move for a spouses job or going back to school, so they seem to all be pretty happy.

    As I said, 7 years is unreasonable. Getting off free with no consequences and treating the guy as some kind of martyr is equally unreasonable. We're probably pretty close on that once we discount both our unreasonable desires to make sure we get the last word in!
