Precisely. If criminals knew good guys were carrying, they would be much more hesitant to commit crimes. That wouldn't effect suicides and the like, but it would cut down on gun crime!

We'll make an NRA member out of you yet!

So is your answer for every problem just to give up? Yup, it's a defeatist attitude like that that makes the world a better place.

Of course not. But I've yet to hear any person who wanted to control firearms provide any argument that might actually work. I am open to the idea of reducing those killed by firearms as long as it will actually do it.

Feel free to have another go at it. I'd be interested in hearing. Or you can just post about all the tragic crimes day after day and shout at the rain.

Your response in the past has been "Ban Guns". That's not a strategy. That's a philosophy and a dream, and not one that will work without substance detailed.

  4. We're all in favor of reducing the number of innocents killed by firearms... but personally, I'm totally in favor of seeing more and more of the criminal perps killed at the scene of their crimes. Screw the courts, 2nd chances, rehabilitation, etc. KILL 'EM DEAD ON THE SPOT! Maybe then they will "get it".

I don't anticipate I will get much in the way of discussion with Futurecurrents. But somehow, it's me who is giving up. o_O

Are we not as capable as they are?

You've tried this argument before, in this very thread. Did Australia and Great Britain have an estimated 4 to 5 million illegal guns on the street?

The legal guns aren't the problem, chief. You can get those pretty easily. It's the illegal ones that cause the issues - and most of the crime.

Ricter (to his credit) was the only one who took a trial run through the banning process. He ran into a lot of difficulty, but he at least tried to take a stab at it when you backed out. Read the first 10 pages for a refresher course.

As noted in reports from their own governments, illegal guns are easily available in both Australia and Great Britain.

You mean after the gun programs, yes, they are. And they didn't have anywhere near the number of illegal ones we have.
