Well, I am just forward testing these REV entries, and its no certain I will end up using them, but today felt good. BTW; here is the reentries file of the day, almost 50, so lets see how it turns out.
I was making my weekly review and I think this scratching+reentry drill is really starting to show some light for me, I am not yet where I want to be, I guess I can optimize the scratching a lot more and I can save myself a lot of mistakes made in RT with more focus. Anyway, this charts reflect what has been achieved during the last week of the scratching exercise. Is not an statement of sorts, just a list of trades filled with my personal flaws. But adding the scratching+reentry drill just saved me a lot of stress during the week and allowed me to think with more clarity, so I think this is worth sharing. The reason I am adding this stuff here is to be able to track my progress from now on, based on the modifications I make to scratching, reentry and exit rules, and also to get some feedback from other SLAyers who might be seeing things I am missing. I have attached three files, one is a 1 min chart of the week (from 9:00 to 11:00 AM) and the other one is the trade list for the week and the third one is the summary in which some stats are compiled and can be compared from now on with the new results I get. The strategy is currently working on a 3 contract per trade basis. To these results one has to discount commissions (around $ 600) so they are not really impressive, but the fact that one can control losses and still take a dollar or two out of the market is what should interest those who are starting to give the SLA a try. Remember, the first step is to control your losses. BTW, the MFE numbers are all screwed up because Ninja goes crazy with scaling out.
Damn! Your Reversal trades are killing it. The one thing I see (from previous weeks) is that you sometimes get too active on dull days. Once you successfully get past a dull week or two, you are probably good to go live. Great stuff and excellent motivation for the rest of us.
Lets not turn homicidal , they are only scratches. And BTW, I think is time to go to sleep. Have a nice WE.
Well, well, there is 40! , that makes me so happy. Thanks for pasting it here. And for 40, congratulations man, I hope you keep "living it " (far less depressing than K I) I still can't understand why these nutcases in the depression thread were asking for more proof, I guess what they want is to trade the SLA so badly that they NEED the damn trades in advance so they can actually take them. Us SLAyers know all the trades in advance, no because Db posts trades via a sqwakbox, but because we all trade the same great method he gave to the world for free (a true Wyckoffian ). BTW Db if that rant is still going on I just admire you even more for not just ignoring these people as I did. Now the good thing for me is that even if they post something here I will never know, if like they never existed. Is what they used to do with the war losers of the past, erase their records from history, well, at least my history. As for those who are still on the sidelines and really want to become traders for a living, stop waiting for the "hot gun full of fingerprints alongside the dead body and an HD video of the crime covering the killer's face" (to use a CSI reference) to jump in, the method works, what always fail are the traders, they refuse to pick the 20 bucks from the floor, just because it makes no sense that nobody picked them before or because bending over is just too much damn work. Last but never least, thank you for a gazillion time Db.
What no tax returns? I need proof or I call BS. The hate directed at DBP is strange. It's easy to test and you can see most people posting journals are posting the same entries. Do the trolls think DBP's students are making entries up after the fact too? I'm a few weeks in and am already finding most of these entries (managing the trade is a little harder). Its clear to me now that its a waste of energy to engage the nay sayers. If I also start killing I won't waste a second trying to prove it here. BTW Niko - nice results. No huge drawdown, lots of scratching and still "killingit".
Most of it has to do with the results I posted last June re the winrate and the P:L ratio. What they fail to understand is that if you limit your losses to, for example, 4t and you net 8pts for the day, you have an 8:1 ratio. But you absolutely must keep your losses small and follow the rules, which include doing nothing if there's nothing to do. Otherwise you're probably not doing all that much better than everybody else. Cut your losses short; let your profits run. Where have I heard that before?
