The newest from BLM and ANTIFA - Let's burn down and vandalize Catholic churches for hosting racist statues of Jesus and Mary. Catholic churches burned, vandalized over weekend as police investigate: 'Where's the outrage?' Florida, California churches set on fire as authorities question if it is connected to recent protests https://www.foxnews.com/us/church-fire-florida-california-statue-burned-police-investigation A slew of Catholic churches from Florida to California were burned and vandalized over the weekend as police continue to investigate whether or not they are connected to protests targeting symbols and statues. Following George Floyd's police-related death in May, Black Lives Matter leaders and protesters called for the toppling of statues, from Confederate symbols to former U.S. presidents and abolitionists. Activist Shaun King called for all images depicting Jesus as a "White European" and his mother to be torn down because they're forms of "White supremacy" and "racist propaganda." Meanwhile, people on social media point out the lack of mainstream coverage of the weekend incidents. "Churches are being burned to the ground. What?," Mike Cernovich, a controversial right-leaning author, said in a video on Twitter. "Why is this not the biggest story of the day." Sean Feucht, a California worship leader and pastor, commenting on the incidents asked, "Where's the outrage?" Florida church attacked while parishioners prepare for Mass Steven Anthony Shields, 24, allegedly crashed his vehicle through the front doors of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala and then set a fire in the building's foyer area, according to the sheriff's office. (Marion County Sheriff's Office A man in Florida plowed his vehicle into the Queen of Peace Catholic Church as it was preparing for morning Mass on Saturday, poured gasoline in the foyer, and then set the building on fire before driving off, the Marion County Sheriff's Office reports. Steven Anthony Shields, 24, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson, burglary, and evading arrest. He told investigators what he did was "awesome" and that he was on a "mission" as he smiled and laughed while admitting to setting the church ablaze, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Ocala Star-Banner. Shields, who lives in nearby Dunnellon, told a detective he has problems with the Catholic Church and has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is not taking his medication, the Star-Banner reported. Despite the church foyer being heavily damaged, Mass was celebrated Saturday and Sunday, according to the local news. Historic California church goes up in a blaze Around the same time as the Florida incident, a 249-year-old Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles caught fire. The San Gabriel church, which was undergoing renovations for its upcoming 250th anniversary, went up in flames around 4 a.m., burning the roof and insides of the church. The cause of the fire is under investigation. But the recent destruction of monuments to Junipero Serra, the founder of the California mission system -- whom Indigenous activists view as a symbol of oppression -- will be a factor in the investigation, Capt. Antonio Negrete of the San Gabriel Fire Department told the local Fox 11 news outlet. “This will be another box that they’re going to check off,” he said, adding, "It's a tragic loss for our city. It's our city identifier." Virgin Mary statue in Boston torched A statue of the Virgin Mary was set on fire outside a Boston church Saturday night, NBC 10 Boston reports. Boston police are investigating a reported fire outside St. Peter Parish at 10 p.m., where they found the burned statue. The flowers in the hands of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, were set on fire, damaging her arms up to her face. “I was shocked,” Pastor John Currie told the local news. He explained the statue was put up decades ago in memory of World War II veterans. Another statue of the Virgin Mary was vandalized in New York City on July 10th. The Diocese of Brooklyn announced police are investigating the incident in which the statue at Cathedral Prep School and Seminary in Queens had "IDOL" spray-painted on it at 3 a.m. Friday morning, the Catholic News Agency reports. Fr. James Kuroly, rector and president of Cathedral Prep, called the incident “an act of hatred.” “Obviously, this tragedy saddens us deeply but it also renews our hope and faith in the Lord as he has shown his goodness in the many people who have already reached out to us,” Kuroly said. “We are sincerely grateful for the help we have received as well as the prayers. Please continue praying for those who committed this act of vandalism and hatred toward Our Lady and the Church.” Other church incidents over the weekend Also, another church fire in San Diego is being investigated by police as the 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning blaze seems “suspicious," the department’s Metro Arson Strike Team said. Calvary Baptist is a historically Black church, though its website says it has become a “multi-cultural faith community” in recent years. President Trump has adamantly opposed toppling any monuments and symbols, signing an executive order to protect them, and punish offenders with prison time.
Uh..how is this a BLM movement thing: A man in Florida plowed his vehicle into the Queen of Peace Catholic Church as it was preparing for morning Mass on Saturday, poured gasoline in the foyer, and then set the building on fire before driving off, the Marion County Sheriff's Office reports. Steven Anthony Shields, 24, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson, burglary, and evading arrest. THis was all over the news in Florida by the way. Not sure why there is a demand for national news coverage of a nut job off his meds doing this in an article claiming BLM are burning down churches.. Maybe the editor of this story did not have enough to go on and just added other shit to the story?
Uh...The headline implies BLM is to blame and the first example is a mentally unstable person driving his car into a church and BLM had nothing to do with it? Talk about click bait. The guy was arrested and has nothing to do with BLM and everything to do with crazy. As for the others...what about: Boston police are investigating a reported fire .. The Diocese of Brooklyn announced police are investigating... Also, another church fire in San Diego is being investigated Seems like in a weekend there were 4 churches vandalized and one was by a nut job off of his meds. The other 3 are being investigated by police. Does this constitute "all the burning and vandalizing of churches"? i am sure the police made these case a priority.
So tell us about all the Catholic churches that were vandalized or burned during the one year period before the protests. Hard to believe that anyone is trying to make a case that these church burnings and vandalizations are not related to the BLM protest.
The crazy guy who drove into the church and set it on fire was diagnosed with being crazy and off his meds. Had nothing to do with BLM. You think the catholic church has no reason to be under attack on its own??? Cmon: July 2019: Someone spray-painted the word “rape” early Wednesday on the outside of a Catholic church linked to sexual misconduct allegations in Bakersfield, California, KGET reported. Chicago Breaking News February 6, 2009 When firefighters arrived at a Bridgeport Catholic church early today, they found a message of rage written in red tape across its front doors: "Rape" and "God is a lie." Words on adjacent doors indicated that the rape happened here, at this church. Wait were churches left alone completely and now it pops up new deu to BLM? Here is a report from NOV/DEC 2019: Cranston, RI: St. Paul Catholic Church was vandalized twice in just over a week. In both incidents, on Wednesday night, Nov. 20 and again on Friday night, Nov. 29, rocks were thrown through the church’s stained glass windows, smashing them. Wauseon, OH: Three statues were vandalized at an outdoor shrine at St. Caspar Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 18. According to parish secretary Kasey Sekula, “One of the statue’s head was completely cut off. The other ones, the face was just pretty much destroyed.” El Paso, TX: A Friday, Dec. 6 incident at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in east El Paso was the latest, and most egregious, of a series of acts of vandalism against Catholic churches in El Paso since last May. In this attack, vandals broke into the church around 2 a.m., after using large, heavy stones from the church landscaping to smash windows at the entrance to the gathering area, the parish main office and the bookkeeping office—which was ransacked. A bible was set on fire, and a second fire, started on a table, was apparently set intentionally to burn a large framed image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The image was badly damaged by the fire, as was the wall on which it hung. Two crosses were turned upside down on the walls and satanic symbols were left in multiple locations. Wichita, KS: A statue of the Virgin Mary in front of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church was vandalized, with black markings, apparently from spray paint, covering her hands and face. The incident happened over the weekend of Dec. 7-8. Miami, FL: “A trail of destruction left” Corpus Christi Catholic Church “with thousands of dollars in damages as teenagers wreaked havoc across rooms during an early morning break-in” on Monday, Dec. 9, a local TV station reported. The teens started in a dining room, where they overturned tables, burned a package of disposable Styrofoam containers, and scrawled profanities and vulgar images onto windows and a refrigerator. Then they entered a kitchen, where they redrew the same vulgarities in white residue along a table, and discharged a fire extinguisher to blanket the table and floor in white flame retardant powder. Total damage was estimated at $3,000. Tacoma, WA: A tabernacle and a cross were stolen from the chapel at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday night, Dec. 10. According to the principal of Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy, the thief knew exactly what he or she was looking for. The principal said it could cost thousands of dollars to replace what was stolen. Franklin Lakes, NJ: A 26-year-old man has been charged with aggravated arson and burglary after setting fire to The Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church early in the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 11. The man used gasoline and a cigarette lighter to set the blaze, which completely destroyed the church. Crowley, LA: Seven times in the past five months, Christian churches including St. Theresa Catholic Church have had glass shattered by thrown objects. The latest incident occurred at a Christian church on Sunday, Dec. 8. Mt. Lebanon, PA: A 21-year-old man was charged with smashing doors and windows at three churches, including St. Bernard Catholic Church, on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
You may have a point..... but I will point out that a lot of the recent burning and vandalism of churches occurred in the middle of protests. How do you explain the burning and vandalism of St. John's Episcopal Church which is directly across from the White House.. are you going to claim that this had nothing to do with the BLM protests.
Just because you pick out a church vandalized by BLM does not create a narrative that BLM is going around burning all churches and calling for the destruction of churces. Does Chauvin mean that all cops are calling for the kneeling and killing of all black people? My point is the article tried to create a narrative and its first main examples HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BLM. Just because some fucktards vandalize a church in isolated incidents does not create the narrative for national news that FOX is trying to create. Where was FOX news outrage over the fucking of small children that led to a lot of vandalism in the past? Not convenient for them to paint churches in a bad light but convenient to defend them nationally when a few incidents pop up.
