Not the Same San Fran I used to know

  1. The Framers were not just concerned about foreign governments. They were also concerned about the ability of the citizenry to fend off the American government should it become tyranical.

Not to forget that little old nasty American Revolution started with the British Army going out to Lexington. And why were they going there? Oh, because the local militia had a powderhouse there and the Brits thought they were beginning to get a little too uppity.

So... I guess I get my news from ET politics... because I had no idea... but there was another f'ing shooting today?!
    I just read the thread.

Ya know, you can say whatever the f you want about Boomers... but I sure as hell don't remember sh*t like this happening weekly when I was in my teens and 20's.

You sit here and rant and rave about guns day in and day out... and I'm sure as soon as you read my next statement following this sentence>>> you, Tony, Here4(no one knows what fucking reason) aka Cuddles, will run to Google to get some chart.... but we had just as many f'ing guns, or damn close... and there wasn't a f'ing mass murder every other f-ing day.
    TREE IS RIGHT.
It's not the guns.... it's your loser generations and all your cry baby f'ing problems.

Actually there were TWO mass shootings in Louisville, KY today.

1 killed, 1 injured in shooting outside JCTC building in downtown Louisville

I have to agree with the assertion you made about boomers. Despite growing up in the violent 1970s --- we did not have mass shootings at schools, malls, banks, and businesses nearly every week. Our public high school -- located in suburban Long Island near NYC -- had both a riflery and archery team. Students participating in the sports (plus JROTC) carried their rifles or bows every day into school. Never did we have issues anywhere with a student shooting up the high school.

You may want to read what Tony stated and my follow-up as a reply to Tony about battles on American soil or against the infrastructure of America. In addition, I was referring to modern wars since the revolutionary war. :D

With that said, typically a modern army knows that a well-armed militia is not a threat. In contrast, the government/politicians typically believe their armies can be tied down or beaten by a well-armed militia. It's enough fear to prevent them from sending in their military or encouraging too much government involvement that hinders a foreign invading army.

Today, not 1812, a well-armed militia has the ability to retaliate (invade) another country that initiated a war on American soil. We have a more diverse country that consists of much more than just gun owners willing to take the fight to another country if necessary...invading that country without needing to set foot in that country.

Simply, you can defeat a country prior to invading them (putting ground troops on their soil) with our military (e.g. psychological warfare, biological warfare, political division, crypto-currency, hackers et cetera)...the U.S. refer to it as defensive measures only, and its multi-agency units that are not exclusive to the military.
    • Yet, the U.S. military has divisions devoted to such and we have civilians working with the military with the equipment to do the same. Simply, it's not just about guns.
For example, last summer my son and I visited several top universities in the world that he's considering attending for college.

Two of those universities in the United States bragged during summer orientation visits that they had incidents that required the local fire department, police, and the FBI because a few of the past students (now alumni) had built a nuclear device in their dormitory room.

Further, at the other university, a few students (grew/isolated) a dangerous biological virus in their dormitory room. Much of the equipment at both universities was purchased on eBay by the students to help prevent the detection of what they were building/designing.
    • We sat in the front roll at those university summer orientation visits, I turned around and saw other prospective students...their eyes light up as if they walked into a candy store when they heard those stories from the university speaker.
In contrast, some of the parents were shaking their heads in disbelief with faces as if they were about to make a mistake if they allow their teenager to attend that university. :wtf:

Today, students at another university that we visited last year...those students were involved in hacking into the finances of a foreign adversary.

Simply, today, the defeat of any foreign army invading the United States does not need to be initiated by our military because we have too many creative (mad) scientist students at our universities and they do not need guns regardless of the fact they may accidentally wipe out some of their university classmates while defending America.

Thus, I do think the Mexican Cartel should fear well-armed civilians not using guns.

Yep, the speaker at those universities asked to see a raise of hands that were residing in another country...

It looked like about 1/3 raised their hands...including my son. Later, after talking to some of the parents...they were not U.S. citizens but wanted their teenager to be educated at an American university.

A few clearly looked disturbed (almost upset like) when I mentioned I was ex-military (United States Veteran) that is now living abroad.

  8. So that is likely to happen in 2023? you are arguing the 2nd amendment I am responding to a specific comment about a belief the second amendment prevented foreign powers from invading the U.S.

Mmmm, I think you need to take this one into context. Back in 1812 there was nothing in the arsenal of weapons like we have today for ordinary citizens. And the whole flavor of the second amendment was framed around the idea of the British coming back at us, to try to reclaim their "territory".

And so it stands today. If a well trained army tried to invade the US, don't you think that 300 million guns will repel them? Haven't you seen the two versions of the movie Red Dawn? Wolverines!

Of course, I am darn sure all our problems can be resolved with some talks with groovy music in the background.

    ON for Prez, 2024

By the way, there's a total solar eclipse running through North America in a year from now! Will be the last one until 2045. Look it up!

  10. Wolverines did not repel the invading force in that movie......they simple fought around one town, remember the East and West Coasts were wiped out with nuclear strikes and then the forces just marched in across the border. It was the military that was fighting the war, not some kids with rifles :).

2nd Amendment was because there was NO military. The soldiers that fought in the Rev War went back home :).
