  1. A lot of circular repetitive anti-gun chit chat above.

So, no attempt to remove or amend the Second Amendment?

Because why? Oh, I see. Because it lacks sufficient support for a constitutional amendment.

That pesky little problem of lacking the will of the people.

You cannot say that with any honesty or truth, because you grew up in NYC. That does not mean you have a pulse of all the other big cities in America. Each had their own particular problems. And while you think NYC got better (which it did after the pre-Times-Square bumf from Guiliani killing the sex shops), it has gotten worse again, because of what I think was the worst thing in the world...Turning Times Square into a car-free zone, effectively turning the heart of NYC into San Francisco! Naked Cowboy? Elmo costumes? Gimme' a break.

Fine by me bro. Get it passed. Tree makes a good point too, repeal the Second Amendment... and last I looked we're still a democracy. So have at it babe. Then my billion dollar baby would really work. I could care less about assault rifles and high capacity magazines. For the same reason I don't sky-dive. I'm an idiot and I'd be the one that blows their f'ing leg off with one putting it in the safe.

Oh, and while we're on the subject, another of my billion dollar (take some Ukraine money) babies in the interim... complete with the math... make sure you read both posts.

2nd Amendment will never be repealed or changed because America is built on it... it's in our DNA.

While the American "right to bear arms" developed at the time of the Revolution, it grew out of the duty imposed on the early colonists to keep arms for the defense of their isolated and endangered communities.

Seriously, it was the English colony's right to bear arms in defense against Native Americans while the colonies were stealing land from Native Americans. :D  :(
    • "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The Constitution was made after the Revolutionary War when the people (notice I did not say government) still needed self-defense.

Thus, they still needed to defend themselves against Native Americans and now defend themselves against a possible corrupt government that may arise from within or from outside enemies (e.g. Armies from other countries).
Today, many argue that one of the primary reasons why there has never been an invading foreign army on American soil after the revolutionary war is because of the 2nd Amendment...the right for the people to bear arms.

Simply, the problems we have today because of a society that has been changing since the early 1900s immigration era...we're still a country that's defending the land that was stolen from Native Americans but now have a growing fear (paranoia) of a corrupt government...a two-party government.

Thus, the people are too divided to be able to come together in overwhelming numbers (more than a majority) to rid of their fears.

Personally, to rid ourselves of the 2nd Amendment is to rid ourselves of the military too because we can not have one without the other in a world with foreign governments that would enjoy occupying America with their armies.

  7. For any viewers who may drop into this thread in the middle without reading previous posts, let the record show that my comment was not to say that I support repealing the 2nd Amendment as I most definitely do not.

It was to say to Usual Tard and others who whine endless about courts and legislatures not imposing gun restrictions at the level they want then show some balls and go for repealing the Second and get on with it if that is your goal. But the reality is that they don;t do that because they run into that inconvenient problem that too many Americans are opposed to it. Yeh, democracy is a bitch. Deal with it.

I knew that already lol. Your prose does not escape me at all. I knew 100% what you meant.

Funny you just checked in, because of the many things you have written here, this one really hits the target, regardless of my somewhat indifference on the matter. And i was cutting and pasting as you post apparently. For the express purpose of agreeing.

You nailed that one big time.
