CO2 may act like a thermostat, but the planet Venus indicates we may NOT like the setting one bit. : )
I'd like to give a very detailed response to that, but my middle finger is getting tired of typing responses to you.
One more time for the intentionally ignorant deceiver, intellectually dishonest jerm......fanatical partisan extrodinaire. He used the term wrongly. I've already explained why several times. But once again. A thermostat is a negative feedback mechanism. That is, as it gets warmer the t'stat reduces the heat input. When it gets cooler it increases heat input. CO2 in the thermosphere does not act this way. It acts like a zero feedback device like a blanket. And, once again, who cares about the thermosphere? Good job of evasion and conflation there. Right from the playbook. If I didn't know better I would think you are working for conservative "think" tank. This is what NASA says..... In its recently released Fourth Assessment Report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of 1,300 independent scientific experts from countries all over the world under the auspices of the United Nations, concluded there's a more than 90 percent probability that human activities over the past 250 years have warmed our planet. The industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from 280 parts per million to 379 parts per million in the last 150 years. The panel also concluded there's a better than 90 percent probability that human-produced greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have caused much of the observed increase in Earth's temperatures over the past 50 years. http://climate.nasa.gov/causes
Only numb nut trolls go around correcting scientists without linking or citing to any work or science. Its not whether CO2 it actually is a thermostat... or even whether or not it acts as a negative feedback system... it is that co2 acts like a thermostat... "A thermostat is a component of a control system which senses the temperature of a system so that the system's temperature is maintained near a desired setpoint. The thermostat does this by switching heating or cooling devices on or off, or regulating the flow of a heat transfer fluid as needed, to maintain the correct temperature. The name is derived from the Greek words thermos "hot" and statos "a standing"." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermostat regarding the consensus of probability... who cares... I suspect we could be warming the earth too... the question is show us the science that says man made co2 is doing the warming.
So NASA is saying CO2 can have thermostatic properties, and NASA is saying Man has (despite that, obviously) warmed the Earth because of CO2 emissions.
not exactly.. NASA is saying CO2 can have thermostatic properties... and they back that up with science.... In the article the troll quotes... NASA says this... "The consequences of changing the natural atmospheric greenhouse are difficult to predict, but certain effects seem likely:" then it goes on to make a few guesses and then quotes the fraudulent IPCC stuff. NASA did not put any science behind their prediction of warming.. note I already presented links for NASA where they explained they do not know whether adding other far more plentiful ghcs causes warming or cooling... (aerosols and water vapor).
show us the science... seriously... show us the science that says man made co2 causes warming here on earth? not opinion but science which supports scientific conclusions. I have been asking you and separately the leftist trolls for the science for years. Its my opinion that all these humans impacting the earth in so many ways is bound to be doing something and that something might include warming. But, that is not science.
You probably just missed it jem. But earlier today Ricter admitted he only pulls assertions out of his ass. It's up to the reader to prove he's wrong.
