Norway publicizing each taxpayer's income & wealth

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by TraderZones, Oct 23, 2009.

  1. Yes, Norway is a very open country. The Norges Bank operates exactly as openly/transparently as every other inflation-targeting CB out there. It's not more or less transparent than the Fed, for example.

They are doing something right and it's not all because of oil. They target govt deficits/debt excluding oil (the "mainland" economy). Oil revenue is a totally separate income stream that goes into a special petroleum fund and is saved.
    Very funny comment, this...

Small homogeneous populations with oil money are no model for the United States. You can do weird things when you are Norway, like pretend everyone is really equal and social equality is really some kind of workable good idea.

Wait another 30 years when Sweden has a very large and belligerent muslim population, wait and see what these leftists do when suddenly someone wants to foist sharia on them. We'll see about their childish little candyland.

  3. why is it stupid to let everyone know about everyone's income and wealth?

    This is super perfect

That way crooks/illegal businesses can be identified easily. I can understand why some are afraid :D

  4. I was thinking about this 2009 thread just a while ago. Norway and other countries are in the process of implosion. Releasing this tax list to the public is just another step.

The losers, the non-productive, gold diggers, blackmailers, kidnappers and other socialists will enjoy this immensely. Take what they can while they can until the lode runs out.

The tax list is just another reason for Norwegians to move out and or hide income and wealth.

How so? The tax service wasn't looking for crooks before? the black market will be apparent suddenly?

    doesn't make sense

  6. Max tax bracket is 48%. Capital gains is at 28% flat. I trade for a living and get taxed at 28%. Not bad. However, there is a wealth tax at 1.1% p.a. that is quite harsh... Also bear in mind that other tariffs are quite high, for example almost 100% tax on new cars.

Unfortunately, the oil wealth is the main reason for our high standard of living.

    BTW, I'm norwegian.

  8. 30? More like 5-10 if the economy does not play ball. And yes, I could see the leftists turn on a dime.

  10. Yes, "free" education and healthcare. Neither not ranked very high among OECD (?).
