I will cover this in a main thread but here is what you do.

You get a firewall product, like Sonicwall etc.

You put their security software package on to that, like Total Secure. You learn how it works and how to configure it. Kill the malware at the incoming point, not once it's on your pc.

On your pc try Eset NOD32 antivirus. It seems to be very good at not hogging or slowing your system down at all.

Avoid all total security suite software, especially Symantec products.

It has been my experience that Norton and McAfee are the most useless anti-virus programs available on the market. Neither of them can detect and clean even the most basic form of spyware. The most aggravating element of using either of these programs is completely uninstalling all of their components. I've managed to clean my XP machines but not the Vista ones.

There are many ways to get infected and it goes well beyond a porn site. SQL injections, drive by downloads, exploits, email, infected jpgs and the list is endless.

You no longer have to click on anything to get infected.

  6. Hey good tip. Regarding the slow down on trading apps., just exempt them in Avast settings, trusted only of course.
