We need to look at this in five years. Fox are full of shit anyway, I skimmed that earlier and the comments from the 'experts'.... One institute guy and who? Edited and interviews John Bolton who works for the same 'institute' as the quoted expert (lobby org). AND they call Bolton 'ambassador' , I think, not 100% but he has been out of that role for a long time. You don't use the present tense like with a President unless you are trying to con old people.
I hope, as others has discussed earlier, Kim is not just trying to “Titillate” Trump. Let Trump have a political victory in exchange for a North Korian economic and political victory. At this point, a reasonable expectation might be a North Korean halt on the production of additional nuclear weapons and opening up the country for UN inspectors. In exchange, the US could lift sanctions and offer guarentees. Unfortunately, North Korea could be a good boy for a while, stockpile goods, and then revoke the agreement. We would have little effective recourse. The best plan is probably one that fits into the US overall strategy for Asia. It is inevitable that China will become a regional, if not global superpower. Their economic base and leadership goals support this. By extension, the US influence in the area will decline. We may be able to make some noise for a while, but it likely will be expensive. We need a long term plan that reflects geopolitical realities. Therefore it seems our best course is to be humble and play nice. Accept there are strong willed leaders on both sides of the Pacific and deal with it.
From what I’ve heard about Bolton, he might be more suited being part of a combat unit rather than an “ambassador” anyway. I hope you are not insinuating that Fox is not fair and balanced. If you are, I’m going to have to look at my Sarah Palin book to recover! <grin>
I see that you are still in training to become one of the North Korean cheerleaders. Go for it. We know you can do it.
I suggest that Trump appoint Stormy Daniels to negotiate with Rocket Man. Two birds, one stone, etc. Other than bringing in Dennis Rodman, she is his best chance to avoid war. Seriously, what chance does Rocket Man stand against her?
Well, the idea is not so far-fetched. He sent Ivanka to the Olympics. Time to send on the first team now. Bring out the big guns, so to speak.
Maybe- in the Clinton tradition- Trump can invite Little Rocket Man over to spend the night in the Lincoln bedroom, and have Stormy stop by to see him for a "house call" so that he will have a smile on his face when negotiations begin the next day. Of course, it could work the other way round too, where Little Rocket Man arranges a visit to the white house from the North Korean cheerleading team, and then the next day trump is agreeing to everthing LRM wants. Foreign relations is (are?) complicated.
