  1. Hey NoD,
Thanks for posting that pic of the DOM, looks pretty interesting, haha. Definitely some cool features there. And nice start to the week too, hope it only gets better!

    + $148

Solid as a rock today, I only wish I'd put on full size instead of still trading 100-200 shares.

Short SYNA @ 36.25 overbought failure to make a new high. Covered off pivot from retest of the LOD @ 35.89: +$34

Short SYNA @ 36.61 pullback from overbought, stop above HOD, hit for -$26.

    Short SYNA @ 36.71. Covered oversold @ 36.38: +$31

Short TIF @ 29.05 overbought, lower high, stop above HOD. Covered @ 28.86: +$17

My entry and exit were the exact top and bottom of the move to the penny. That probably happens once in a lifetime, ha!

Short SYNA @ 36.29 on pullback from a significantly lower high because it just plain looked weak after failing to stage a useful bounce. Covered @ 36.08 via trailing a limit order: +$19

I intended to trail the limit to a test of the LOD, but this stock has a spread and is rather jumpy, and I was too damn close to the bid as it lifted my order and headed straight down to the LOD.

Closed out a TIF short when it didn’t break down as expected: +$5.

Short TIF @ 28.43 based on “weak POS” strategy. Plus it left a big F/U candle on the daily chart, so I was willing to swing it. Plus it made a significantly lower high. Trailed a limit as it broke down, hit for +$65. I tried to keep some distance, but price went a bit crazy as it broke down and I was too close again.

End of day scalped +$8 off TIF to the short side, no charts, just followed the price action.

NTAP puts up $100 so far.

    + $614

Had 3 top picks to short on open – ASIA, TIF and URS. I’m supposed to be putting on all my setups, but after shorting TIF, I stuck with it and missed the other two, both superb shorts.

Short TIF on open at 28.34, pullback from high. Covered @ 27.78 via a trailing stop: +$165 Again, more room on my trailing orders would’ve provided far more profit. I regretted only trading 300 shares. Seriously thought about adding to the position @ 28.24 and hesitated. I had no problem adding to losers earlier this year, yet I hesitated to add to a winner.

For the first time ever I decided to click on “Account” in IB and see what was there. Ahh, an open short position on STEC with an unrealized loss. Wow. Must’ve been from my learning phase last week, because there was one day where I traded like crazy and made a few mistakes. That explains why STEC kept showing up in my portfolio view with no value. By the time I found this, STEC was just about stuck at a price and not moving. Had I known earlier I had it, I would’ve double the position above 17.00 and taken profits.

    Short TIF @ 27.57, covered @ 27.50 for +$12.

Short small position DMND @ 28.92, just below the HOD. Huge gap up, overbought, near 52-week highs. Offered 29.50 on a break through HOD, missed by .05 cents. Trailed a stop later on as it became oversold, hit @ 28.43 for +$97.

Closed NTAP puts when the stock was @ 18.45 for +$268.50 as price approached 50% retracement and stabilized. 100% return is nice and I didn’t wanted to be a wise bear, not a pig.

BostonKiller brought APOL to my attention and I saw that it had pivoted off a higher low on the 30-day chart deep in oversold territory. I’ve been meaning to swing trade APOL if it retested the recent lows. Bought APOL @ 56.93, stop @ 56.15 (just below the LOD). End of day it came within .03 cents of my stop and staged a nice little bounce. Whew!

Bought ESRX June $65 puts for 2.30, which immediately became profitable. I’d like to catch a ride back to the 10-day moving average or oversold territory.

Short TIF @ 27.80, overbought, weak vs. market, etc. trailed a stop and stopped out @ 27.70 for +$18

Short TIF @ 28.14, overbought run up on volume, volume dried up. Covered @ 27.87 for a $52 gain.

Scaled into a small DMND short @ average price of 29.07, holding. What a gap over a couple cents of raised guidance! This one has decent short interest, so I expect it may take some time to fizzle.

  5. Hi ND-

I'm wondering if you could describe your reasons for looking to short TIF on open.

Were you looking at TIF from the night before? and if so, what made you feel like it was a good short?

    Thanks for your replies :)

    Hi QT,

I attached a 6-month daily chart. You can see TIF trading near 6-month highs and in overbought territory. It's been trading in a predictable range from overbought to oversold and back for nearly a month.

Yesterday it left a footprint on this daily chart that was very familiar to me and with earnings coming out tomorrow, I figured I'd have the added pre-earnings selling to carry through the anticipated move.

With all this confluence on the trade, I really, really should've added to the position the moment it was profitable, which was pretty much immediately.

    Hope that makes sense!

Oh no, not sure if I can trade at all today because I can't stop obsessing over the meaning of that number... does he know I played one of my hottest bass solos ever on that gig on on 12/09/01? If so, how does he know?

Does it have something to do with Jeg thinking I was born in 1941? (Grandma??? Jeg, did my young son tell you something I should know?)

Or maybe it's nothing more than his right hand is on the right side of the keyboard and his left hand is on the left side of the keyboard and even though he is thanking me he was too darn lazy to actually move his hands while typing that number. :D

    APOL up 2.50 in pre-market.

Bos, when I say "BUY BUY BUY!", it's because I see patterns everywhere and sometimes they talk to me loudly.

OK, I know that's a sign of insanity, but I'm not insane.

    Really.

    I'm not.

Best of trading to everyone today!
