magna said............ On the downside you are trading against some of the most experienced and very best traders/quants in the world, something not found in almost all stocks. Because of that the market is incredibly efficient and you will see more headfakes and false moves than you ever imagined in stocks. _ END

magna, i perfer to look at that as an upside. I want to trade "with" some of the most experienced/very best traders on the planet. What better way to learn could there possibly be? I prefer to disagree about you saying the mkt is incredibly efficient. So called headfakes and false moves are nothing to sweat because they are just part of the game and as stated, playing in the big boys/girls own sandbox you are prepared for what might come within the next and each and every bar. We all get our share of small losers but in our hearts and within our game plan we know we will catch a "RUN". Thats why we get up in the morning with a cool head.....to play with the best and the greatest and beat them at there game. In my mind thats the real challenge.

For those that say trade this or that instrument except the ES (or NQ ) itself you guys are all wet. The ES is what it is and thats all there is to it. Futures trade different than stocks, always have always will. Futures are not for wussies, they are for the best and the brightest out there. Not saying stocks are bad, just saying stock trading is yesterdays news, get modern, trade futures and see what you are made of. :)

Nod will decide what she will do. Personally i think her personality as little as i know about it is very conducive to futures trading and is up to the challenge to trade one of the mkts most wicked yet most rewarding instruments out there.

If baron keeps the ET chat room up the ES and currency boys and girls will be in there to help each other, stock traders will "come home" also to ET chat .

PS: there is more value in learning the personality, character etc of a single instrument than wading through the jungle looking for a certain flower amoung the snakes, spiders and swamps poison ivy, ants, etc . ha

I only use this indicator as a signal for a possible setup and as an entry/exit guide. When a stock is trading in a range, this indicator is fantastic. I always evaluate other factors. In an up trending stock, for example, an "oversold" condition is a good long entry point for riding the trend, with a stop at the breakdown of the 20-period moving average. Also, I do find it to be a leading indicator in that when I see price approaching overbought/oversold, I still have time to evaluate the larger picture and prepare for an entry when the indicator first pivots.

I appreciate your input. You are right, every highly successful trader from P/L thread I've communicated with on ET trades stocks, and one of them specifically warned me against trading e-minis.

Thanks for your input as well. I think I have this well-ingrained into my psyche at this point.

Although I don't yet have "absolute" faith in what I'm doing, I'm getting more confident over time. External distractions may well be a problem and as much as I enjoy being in a chat room each, I may give that up so I have no outside distractions and see if it helps at all.

Thanks again to everyone for advice.

Well, it's off to the park with the dog, then my annual soccer playoffs begin today. I'll keep you posted!

I think you misunderstood what i meant by "drop" the ob/os indicator. A few days ago you mentioned about leaving to much on the table by getting out of trades to fast. I was apparently wrong in assuming you were in the process of changes to your game plan. My mistake, no problem.

If you are having doubts about trading another instrument then by all means do not make the change. Myself i never listened to anyone else in trading telling me what to do or not to do,,, especially when the other person was only concerned with their own fantasies.

have a great vacation and do stop in now and then to ET chat and say hello to the folks.

    Hi Hog,

I plan to demo trade ES when I get back. You're a mighty crafty one saying "Personally i think her personality as little as i know about it is very conducive to futures trading and is up to the challenge to trade one of the mkts most wicked yet most rewarding instruments out there."

You KNOW how competitive I am!

Speaking of which, lost the first game 0:1, far post defender left her man open on the switch, common error. I often play outside back and wish I had in the first half. I am the STOP LOSS of outside backs, and had a perfect 2nd half at that position.

    Next game 2:15...

I awoke and fired up the trading platform to find NVAX pulling back from a 150% gain over Friday’s close. We have positions in several accounts as this was a very long term speculative play. However, I didn’t want to look a gift profit in the mouth (the stock gained over 300% from Friday’s open), so I closed out the position in my trading account for a $1625 gain, my husband closed his position for a $2000 gain, and we left the IRA positions in play with a stop @ 3.15, eventually hit for a $1570 gain. Nice profits to take before vacation!

11:11 a.m.: Short RSH @ 13.97, pull back after stagnating at 14.00 (the HOD), stop @ 14.10. After a lot of nothing I simply exited at 13.89 for a $37 gain, because this ADD trader did not get the nice quick move she was hoping for. And please don’t ask how far it fell when it eventually tanked. This was pure unadulterated impatience.

12:10 p.m.: Short HANS @ 40.57, near HOD, overbought, SPY pulling back from overbought. Covered @ 40.37 oversold, SPY oversold, for a $100 gain. This one dropped a bit more as well, and I could’ve left my stop in place and held out for the larger move.

At the same time I was watching HANS run up, WHR was hitting new highs and I decided once it pulled back and then retested the high, a lower high would be a nice short signal. However, I missed it because I was putting on HANS and by the time I glanced back at WHR, it had dropped close to 1.00 a share (not that chasing would’ve been a bad idea in retrospect, where all trades are perfect, because this one dropped another 4.70 a share from there).

1:42 p.m. ESRX running hard, offered 60.50, but it only hit 60.37 before reversing quickly. I didn’t want to use market or chase it because of the spread and how jumpy it was at the time.

2:40 p.m.: Short ESRX @ 60.00, overbought, SPY overbought, lower high. I used a market order this time because it had calmed down. Covered @ 59.86 oversold for a $70 gain.

Lost the 2nd soccer match Saturday 0:2, sloppy game overall. Then yesterday we beat the team 3:0 that beat the team we lost to! It was almost a 5:0 score, and a superbly-played match, but too late to help us.

Most likely I won't be posting any trades again until May 12th - vacation time!

April sucked (-$7349), and my YTD +$12,845 is 12% under my minimum target, but I replaced my defective parts, so should be back on track next month

The trading should be fantastic while I'm away because I was out of town during the strong down move before Memorial Day last year, and during July lows and Oct lows. So if my vacation schedule continues to be a consistent indicator, I predict the overall trend to the short side!

Sitting round waiting for update on friend's arrival in Belize, too hot to go outside and nothing to do but eat exotic fruit and see what the market was doing about 5 minutes before close. Saw GEOY squeezed the shorts today up to 25.78 on an analyst upgrade and couldn't resist a small swing short when it pulled back below 25.00 end of day.

    Short 200 shares @ 24.98
    Stop 25.88, target 23.48

Internet connection here is slow as molasses!
