As others have pointed out, I called real time trades in CL and ES journals, also posted trade logs so folks could study their charts and figure out the price action ideas behind the trades, kept a journal here throughout my sad early years, informally mentored at least a dozen ET members via Skype/email, and so on. I have a life outside of trading now, hard to believe, so I'm not doing all that anymore, BUT if Hafez would like to post some hard right edges of a 5-min chart and the corresponding 1-min chart of any instrument (and you can cover the prices and dates so I can't figure it out and cheat), I'll be happy to tell you what I'd do next and why, which is far more useful than simply restating for the umpteenth time how I trade using a 5-min and 1-min chart and calling the trades in real time so everyone can think to themselves "Hmmm, that's gonna fail", which is what I think on most of my trades
I try to keep the same attitude myself, very useful when u know in advance that 60-70%+ of your trades are going to lose /see, another loss, am i right or what!
Here is a link that illustrates in precise detail my core trading method: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=220303&perpage=10&pagenumber=2 In my post there is also a link to the CL Redux where I was often calling trades live at the time, including the one illustrated. I think that chart I posted is one of the best illustrations of how I use a 1-min chart to obtain a precision (scalper's) entry off the trade signal on my main 5-min chart.
NoDoji- I don't have a desire to do that, but I am curious how far you typical look back to make a trading decision. If someone were to put up a graphic of a 5m and 1m chart, how far back does it need to be for you?
I like a 5-6 hour window on the 5-min chart and a 1.5 to 2 hour window on the 1-min chart. If the PA in that window is unclear then I'll open it up further until I can see a trend channel or the range extremes.
ND, do I recall correctly that in CL you have the overnight running seamlessly on your charts as opposed to those who run with just RTH? You may do it the same way for every instrument (or not) but CL is all that I trade.
I was looking threw, I mean through, your posts and noticed you were a terrible speller. I think you need to prove to us that you passed the third grade before you are allowed to post anymore. Thanks.
