Where are the black leaders? Trying to be a black leader in this country is like telling everyone you're a "short" on a Yahoo message board.
Simply put......black people are screwed in the long run, unless they learn to play the game of this world which is Capitalism......its all just a game with race just one of the things that make it not possible for black people to see the forest from the trees. The Jews, Italians. chinese and japanese learnt this and today they are playing the game of capitalism. Also note that. Jewish and Italian people were not considered white back in the day but as their wealth levels grew, they find themselves being labled as caucasian today. I do not mean to say that if black peoples wealth levels rise, they would be considered white but rather they would receive a lot more repsect and comments such as the title of this forum will wither away..........therefore race is fiction and wealth the driver of our perceptions.
I'm pretty sure that the black leaders are busy taking care of their own monetary interests just like all the other leaders. I think one of the major misconception about African Americans is that they are all united in some way. This isn't really true. Black people in America come from many different nations. Some are descended from Africa while others are from the Caribbean and so on etc.... It stands to reason that many of the ones who have money care about themselves and their own first. As for the ones trying to make a difference... Well no one said it was going to be easy!
I don't think that the driving factor behind racism towards blacks is because they are poor but rather because there is a very heavy criminal stigma attached to them by the media. Are the crimes real? Sure... The media has to report them and withholding race in their reports will probably cause the suspicion that the perpetrator was black... but... should the media glorify thug/gang culture? If it bleeds it sells! I'm afraid too many artists know this and do their best to shock the public with new outrageous lyrics. However, when the artist is black it takes on new meaning. Is it just music or is it "reality"? Everyone thinks that rap music and gang culture go hand in hand. Do you blame rap for gang murders? No music isn't to blame... but it certainly adds to the stigma and to an overall bad perception. As for the reality of crime itself.... Is crime caused by poverty or does crime cause poverty? It's a "chicken and the egg debate" that I simply don't have an answer to. All I can say is that if you are poor you should do everything in your power to respect the law because your ability to move up in the world vanishes once you have a criminal record! I think many bad perceptions about blacks would disappear if the various black communities succeeded in preventing crime. Obviously this is a lot harder to do than it actually sounds!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wichita_Massacre i lived a mile from where this happened, a nice new neighborhood i'm sorry that as a white person i forced them to do this I think white people should be educated to appreciate the diversity the carr brothers shared that evening
China = Japan x 10. In 20 yrs China dominates the world. Let's hope they're as nice to us as we've been to them. I say this tongue-in-cheek but we actually did rescue them from a brutal domination by Japan ( 200,000+ unarmed citizens murdered in Nanking in a few days ).
Many African blacks and most inner city Americans are in a hole so deep they can never get out without a helping hand. I don't think we're necessarily patronizing or crusading if we help out; it can be perceived as simply helping out a bunch of people in a miserable situation. Blacks don't have to be inferior to have gotten into the fix they're in or to be unable to get out of it; black Africa wasn't always such a mess and the white world hasn't always been prosperous. If Americans are less inclined to rescue others now it's probably because Viet Nam and now Iraq have created the perception that America's resources and her ability to influence history are limited.
J_R... A horrible and disgusting crime... I never said that black people were not racist... Actually, I'm disgusted by the double standards of the media on this issue. For example why is Chris Rock allowed to shout out "cracker" on stage until he is blue in the face with no repercussions....? Meanwhile, all the white imbeciles who watch his stand up think that he is hilarious.... I'm by no means an apologist for black crime or any crime for that matter... I think the black community really needs to wake up and do something about this issue. It is absolutely irresponsible to allow crime to flourish within our North American cities and communities. I simply think that the black community can be a partner in this endeavor as they would be the ones who would benefit the most from this. Most black crime is caused by blacks against other blacks often within their own communities.
