If in fact, the midterm elections theory is true, how is it done? Is some institution manipulating the market by bringing artificial demand and therefore keeping the markets propped up??? I understand the theory but just dont see how it could possibly work? If it is true, arent the markets, in fact, rigged?

    enlighten me.....

  3. 1) Remember that conveniently timed U.S. Gulf of Mexico, major oil find a few weeks ago? That's what sparked the oil selloff/stock market rally to begin with. More likely than not, this 'new' vast oil reserve is anything but a recent discovery.
Republican strategists timed this 'news' perfectly.

    2) The PPT is REAL. No joke. I've seen the executive order that created it after the '87 crash.

    3) The ruling party controls the release of all economic data. They have the incentive to make everything look peachy until the midterm elections are done.

Yeah I would have to agree with your 1st and 3rd points, jury still out on the 2nd point. BUT, how could any group of people prop the major indexes? I could maybe see the DOW being propped up for a short amount of time since so few stocks make it up, but no way could the NAS and the SP be propped for any amount of time unless all the major brokerages were in on it. As well as many other institutions AND they would all have to be republican!!

how bout an educated response? Better yet, why dont you tell me how it works....

Keep in mind, I dont disagree with some of these theories, I just dont comprehend how the indexes could be propped for an extended amount of time.

Well, because the subject was brought up again in THIS thread. And I posed a question for which I do not have a clear understanding. If you arent capable of bringing something productive to the conversation why dont go back to sucking your thumb and cuddling with your blankie....

  10. come back when you learn how to help yourself first instead of relying on others and being lazy. if you are not going to take the time to perform due dillegence, how dare you ask others to.
