I just write In the money calls if you can't short.

  3. Not being able to short QQQ is totally retarded. I can see not
getting QLGC. KLAC is shortable today, but QQQ? YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! sUCKS...

  5. Just short the NQ (equiv to 800 shares of QQQ).

  6. Maybe God has put a trading curse on IB...
Or worse yet, maybe the Devil has taken
over the helm at IB...

  7. You mention shorting in the money calls. Would you do this on the QQQ or Nasdaq 100 index?

Also any guidelines for how far in the money, or would you just look for some good liquidity with high deltas.

    Thanks

This isn't a recent occurence, it was happening often enough to me a year ago and is one of the reasons I left IB. Do a search on this site and you will find old threads complaining about IB's short inventory. Never had a problem with ETF's though.

I would just short the most current calls. for example say QQQ is at 24.00. I would sell the 22 calls.
