No Platform at GOP convention, only total support for the Dear Leader

Final viewership for both conventions was about equal on the final night.

Some observations from the GOP side: I felt like Monday and Wednesday were bad nights and people tuned out accordingly. I also felt like Tuesday and Thursday were strong nights and people tuned in accordingly.

Comparing Biden’s speech to Trump’s speech: both showed to be about equal with Biden having a slightly higher viewership. I don’t think the difference is meaningful.

What I do think is meaningful is that Trump had substantially higher viewership than Clinton in 2016. I do think that is something to take note of.

Trump drew much more attention than Clinton in 2016 but Biden is drawing as much (if not more) attention than Trump in 2020.

  2. I don't know. You have to factor in that watching the dnc "convention" has really been the only chance to see Joe and Kamala so that wimpy little zoomfest they put on was the go-to place to see Kamala since the primaries and to see if Joe was still able to sit up and take fluids.

In contrast, Trump had good viewership but has also been out and about all week in general. And in previous weeks. Whereas Joe, was what, just the mystery guest who signed in the last day or something? Joe got some viewership because it was basically a Sasquatch sighting. Not sure there is a real demand to see him again for a while.

I don’t know about this. Trump had wall to wall coverage day in and day out in 2016 and he still drew the biggest audience. But what works for you is fine with me.

  4. Well, yeh, that is not at odds with my point. Trump was out and about but he kept upping his game and putting in a raucous road show to keep his viewership up. His did not get his viewership from people just checking in to see if the Sasquatch was still alive as with Joe.

As I said, a lot of people checked in on the dnc because Kamala was new on the recent scene and it was your only chance to see if Joe was still kicking. But a little bit of Joe goes a long way when it comes to viewership or has in the past anyway. If people see Trump, then his groupies can't wait to see him again. Not so for Joe. My point, again, being that Joe might have a good night by surfacing from the basement once every three months. Whether they need to see him again next week or not remains to be seen. In the past, no one has had that need with him.

This is before the Durham indictments next week. I wonder how the MSM will twist that one.
