Barack Obama's Moneyed State of the Union Guests http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2011/01/barack-obamas-moneyed-state-of-the-union-guests.html The honorees typically sit near the first lady to watch it. And Tuesday night, two of the guests invited by President Barack Obama to watch with his wife were business executives who have also been heavily involved in the world of money in politics. The honorees in question? Ursula Burns, the chief executive officer of Xerox Corp., and Wendell Weeks, the chairman and CEO of Corning Inc., the New York-based glass and ceramics manufacturer. She contributed $40,000 to OBAMA VICTORY FUND 2012.
I do not disagree that there is some demand, but let me make a few points. - The demand is less than projected by Democrats. - The demand is more than projected by Republican pundits. - The true demand numbers will not be revealed for several weeks when the figure(s) are released. - The are many middle class people finding their individual policies have gone up 60% or more for worse coverage. A good number of these people considering dropping health coverage and simply paying the tax penalty of $95 in 2014.
And there you have the sole reason they got the contract. No doubt dozens of investigative journalists will be scrambling to report this on the national news.
I would also note that of course there is demand for health insurance... the question is the price and the quality. Especially since many have been told they could be losing theirs or that it will go up dramatically.
Right. Price, quality and coverage. To subsidize the boomer's with pre-existing's, they will try and gouge the young and healthy...which also happen to be the most indebted with the LEAST ability to absorb those enormous price increases. I disagree that we will know the true figures in several months. It will take several years as we will see how many of the 21-34 y.o.'s will drop out of the system and simply pay the penalty.
