This shooting certainly got a lot more investigation and review than other shootings in the past. Seems they were really concerned about checking everything.
If I had to weigh between thorough investigations by authorities or me sitting on my couch knowing the name of the police officer, I am ok not knowing the name of the Capitol police officer defending the building. If the officer was facing any charges then his name would have been made public as part of public record. If a 26 year veteran of the police force does not know the difference between a Yellow lighter taser on one side of their hip from a heavier loaded glock on the other side of their hip, then their name is part of the criminal charges and they should be famous so the Police Union does not try to hide them in another job somewhere or bury the facts.

But we cannot know the name of the shooter and the circumstances so that the public can form an opinion and participate in the reasonableness of actions. The capitol response and the actions of specific participants is totally a public policy matter as well. You know, as when a black protester is shot. A US Capitol Police officer is dead after being attacked by a man who rammed his vehicle into a barrier just outside the Capitol building on Friday. The driver of the car was shot by police and died after being taken to hospital in a critical condition. Another officer has been hospitalised with undisclosed injuries. Criminal shot dead.
