If you want to get rid of something, you should first think of what follows.

It seems a very simple idea to allow insurance pools across state lines....but it would take away some of the leverage the Insurance Companies have over rate costs.. Imo, they don't want lower premiums, hence why that was talked about so much but never put into practice.

Is that what the Democrats did when they installed Obamacare?

In my opinion getting anything passed was more important to them then the details. They thought they could fix the defects later and we're willing to make huge compromises just to get access expanded. But they failed to recognize fundamental flaws such as not repealing McCarron Ferguson and leaving the Medical Cartel intact. They also did not anticipate that the Court would allow States to opt out of medicaid expansion. The latter was a death blow because, the way the ACA was structured, it left millions with no access.

McCarron Ferguson would have to be repealed, bringing insurance under Dept. Of Commerce Regs. Insurance companies fought that, and that is why we have McCarran-Ferguson today. That is also why insurance companies are permitted to act in restraint of trade and why you'll go to hell before you can find out What the CEO of the "nonprofit" Blues is paid and what perks the Board receives.

  7. looks like in 2017 the ACA SHTF, so whoever is President is going to end up with Hillary's dreaded "contentious debate."

I'm surprised no one has campaigned on "Repeal Obabmacare and replace it with what we had."

According to our local media coverage, if no ACA compliant policies are offered in your county then you will not have to pay the fine to the IRS.

There are some useful regulations within Obamacare -- however nearly all of these can be found in competing plans put forward by Republicans. The requirements to cover pre-existing conditions and children until they are 26 I support.

  10. the whole idea of insurance is to protect those who don't wait for a pre existing condition. Eliminate that restriction and you destroy the very concept of insurance. Why should I buy insurance when my ship is still floating? If it starts leaking I'll buy some insurance.

Ship to shore: Ah, it looks like we may need a little of that insurance after all.
