Sounds like he is pretty pissed about AAPL leading the tech advancement over the last 10 years. msft has tried numerous times to find a niche in the mp3 digital music space along with trying his best at a windows based smartphone and nothing has really worked. Makes him sound really jealous for not allowing iphones and ipods in his home.

No iPods, iPhones for Bill Gates’ kids

Melinda Gates, who is married to Bill Gates, won’t buy an iPhone or iPod. One of the richest women in the world covets an iPhone. But she’s not allowed to have one.

Melinda Gates — yes, of Microsoft’s Gates family — is quoted in the latest issue of Vogue Magazine as saying, “Every now and then I look at my friends and say, ‘Ooh, I wouldn’t mind having that iPhone.’ “

However, she and Bill Gates — who co-founded the Microsoft empire, which of course is the arch enemy of Apple — have a policy against iPods and iPhones.

“There are very few things that are on the banned list in our household,” Melinda Gates said. “But iPods and iPhones are two things we don’t get for our kids.”

No iPods or iPhones for the kids? It’s possibly the one area in which the Gates children could be described as deprived.

Which probably makes the Gates offspring the only ones at school with Microsoft’s Zune music players. Poor kids.

Given that Gates' image is strongly associated with MSFT, it might send a bad message to shareholders if his kids are using the competition's products...

    It makes sense.

  3. A lot of Microsoft employees use iPods. He'd ban all those too if he could.
