In other words, you think someone else should be punished purely to serve the interests of other people?

A crime is when someone does something wrong to another person against their will. Not when someone does something that you don't approve of. Being "out of control" is not a crime, unless you think freedom is a crime.

  2. What is missing from this 'victimless' crime is the legal capacity of consent. What age is appropiate to consent to a victimless crime.

  3. There goes the state funding from Obama's stimulus plan. When is the second stimulus coming up?
Many violent sex offenders don't even register themselves, they either lie about where they live or say that they are homeless and live in their cars.

This issue is being pushed by the religious right-wing, and some leftists are accepting it, which is ironic considering the fact that if it were legal in the continental US these religious individuals would be marrying off their children at 12-15.

50 years ago the age of majority was 21, yet plenty of people under that age were otherwise given the same responsibilities as other "adults" past puberty.

  4. Yes. She made a mistake, and put herself in danger of internet crazy people, but who has not made a mistake when they were teenagers? How can they charge for child pedophilia and distributing child pornography when for her she was doing that for her boyfriend, not to be a child pornography person.
I think she wanted to please her boyfriend and did not understand the law. What if she is touching herself in the pictures, then she is charged with molesting a child too? So stupid.

  5. I think these issues came up years ago and basically you can't take a family pix of your child in a bathtub.

  6. That is a law?
But a man who attack a girl who does not want to have sex with him, can go to jail, go free in 3 years, to live in the same neighborhood so the girl has to be afraid again. Something is wrong with the law.

I think that people are punished to make an example all of the time.

This is an interesting case though, and to be honest I don't know what to do. I suspect each of us, if we where to have been criminally charged as adults for the dumbest thing we did as teenagers, may not have been able to have had the lives we now enjoy, I know that is the case for me...so I have a lot of emapathy for this girl in that regard. On the other hand something does need to be done about this particular problem.

Like I said it's a rather complicated case, and I don't have a solution to it.

Historically that was the entire purpose of juvenile law (not to charge children with adult laws) and now the pendulum is swinging back to charge children as adults at an earlier age. It is crazy. We are creating young felons and kids with criminal records in the interest of justice?

I'd love to see a law where, when the children commit a crime, order a drug test and a psych evaluation of the parents first.

  9. Why not have the law that it is not legal to be naked on the internet if you are the minor. Then this is the law, and not a charge of pedophilia to say they are sick in their head. It was just curiosity and a mistake. It is not a sickness in the head to be curious about sex when you are a teenager.

Clearly, your brother is a child pornographer and should be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the LAW!!!! :D

These law enforcement types are one step ahead of the drooling retarded.

These are the same goofs who divert finite resources from prosecuting violent criminals to writing parking tickets, so the City can run a balanced budget during recession.
