  1. if you need a cheap laptop, you can buy a Lenovo Y530 right now for under 600 bucks -- comes with Core Duo chip, 3gb ram, 16" screen, etc. -- great deal

  2. I don't need a CHEAP laptop but a ultraportable (around 2 pounds weight) + day long battery life that will run NT

Not only does NT run perfectly on my Asus 1000H EeePc (1024x600) including DOM and some charts set at 0 sec update with NQ - but since switching to Ubuntu, it also runs satisfactory inside a Windows virtual machine (VirtualBox).

  4. Do you set the resolution higher when running NT or you leave it at 1024x600 ?

How many RAM you have ?

It has no problems at native 1024x600. I have 2 GB of RAM (that's the max).

Depends on what you have loaded in NT, the chart settings, and the speed of data (ie. ES > NQ).

If you're talking about a couple 1 minute charts set at default settings, it doesn't use much at all (10-25%). If you run a couple fast charts set a 0 sec update along with DOM at opening, you'll probably fluctuate 50-100% (might have problems with ES). It all depends what what you're doing in NT and the speed of data it needs to process.
