I bought the NT license about 8 years ago so in retrospect it's a value. And since I am grandfathered in, I can trade using AMP.
You keep saying "we" "we", are you a third-party vendors in business with Ninja Trader? If you are, you should clearly declare so as you have a conflict of interest and your opinions are clearly biased. I have used Ninja Trader for am speaking from personal experience that all live tradings, from automated strategies or manual trading all run from NT's servers regardless the broker and automated trading with strategies are slow and prone to error, according to my personal experience. And among all the versions, imo, NT7 was the best for us users.
No worries. I've had my share of hair pulling with NT and particularly NT8 (which I'd say should have stayed in BETA for many years longer than it did. In many ways I experienced it as a poorer platform which isn't really how a new and improved version should play out. I do think I even recommended you to consider other platforms. I hate that NT restricts trading only to their brokerage and Interactive Brokers for futures. But for me, I now know it like the back of my hand and it's second nature. I have many custom scripts/indicators and stuff so it would be a headache to move on to another platform. And the brokerage is pretty great as far as I can tell. As far as I can tell, Tradingview (which I also use) wouldn't work out for me as a trading platform. Good luck.
signed up for tradingview pro+ free trail today and honestly people...if you havnt tried it yet please consider. extremely customizable (even the "fill" area for bollinger bands can be changed by both color and opacity, for example)...AND its extremely intuitive, pretty easy to navigate the settings. Without a doubt the nicest most user friendly charts I have used, by a large margin. Only complaint I have so far is that customer service is literally nonexistent. I had a few questions about the multi chart layout settings and all they have is "similar articles" showing how to solve what they think your problem is. I don't think individual support (from a human being) is available unless you are a paid member. Going to fund AMP and give this one a go.
we is me and my partners. We are a team who run a small fund. I am not a vendor nor advertise our fund here. I am a CTA and we trade fully algorithmically. once again, ninja servers can not interpret our custom libraries. If you trade at IB there is nothing that runs through ninja servers apart from checking live license at start up. NT7 and 7.5 were single core, and back test were extremely too slow. NT8 solved that issue.
There is no program that is best for all traders. There are hundreds of different approaches to the market to trade and make money. Each approach can have different requirements. Programs are just tools you use. You have to find the optimal tools for your situation. This discussion is similar to trying to find the best woman in the world. She does not exist either as tastes and expectations are different for each man. As most women find a man that suits them and vice versa, it means that there are many "best" women. I must admit however that, after many years, 50% of all marriages end in a divorce, which confirms that the choice might have been a wrong one or at least is then not the optimal anymore. What is best today can be completely different after some time. The only problems I had with NT is: switching from Tradestation to NT7 forced me to rewrite my code completely. and when I switched to NT8 I had the same problem again. PS:I forgot one permanent problem: If I choose to put my data box ALWAYS ON TOP, it disappears very often. No way to keep it always on top.
Dawn, I'm just another single trader like RedDuke and so others, so clear disclaimer that I'm not third party of anything. I have IB and Ninjatrader for many years for algorithmic trading. People like RedDuke and I, have discussed technical matters here about them a long time ago, and I can say that both of them are great software. The algorithmic trader just goes flawlessly, from your PC to IB.
we had same issue migrating to 8. That being said 7.5 to 8 code rewrite was not huge. TS to NT must have been really hard.
Believe it or not, I'm still in NT7 for several reasons. I'm reevaluating building one on my own or migration to NT8 eventually, depending on my personal circumstances.
