Ninja Trader seems not so good compared to TWS...

wrong again. We algo trade. API library is part of ninja install. Then I added my own libraries which ninja knows nothing about. Code is executed by our own VMs where ninja is installed.

There is NO WAY the codes are executed on my PC when live trading. When demo trading, yes but when live trading, the codes are executed on their servers and then any generated orders are sent to any external brokers to be executed. When I demo trade, the codes are executed lot faster almost instantly but when I started live trading, the codes were executed lot slower and there were many missed executions of codes. Many of the signals that should've been triggered never did or were triggered late and as a result orders were either never generated or generated late which resulted in losses. This never happened during demo trading.

you want to open another tab for a second chart??? that'll cost ya a grand...LOL

NT is straight up poop. Ive been playing with the program and it's just not it guys, I get that upgrading it helps but as mentioned before TWS is 10x better than this for free. If it works for you then great, but IMO the program is really not nice at all. Withdrawing funds and going somewhere else.

You are very wrong, do not take my word for it, just post on their forum. If you user
their brokerage, of course you hitting their servers. If you use IB you do not. It is really this simple.

life license is like 1K+. It is beyond dirt cheap for rock solid charting and trading platform. NT8 is excellent, there was a lot of missing features with versions 5, 6 and 7. Every version brought improvements, and NT 8 stands Supreme.

the most important features are speed and readability. We run fully algorithmic model across multiple markets executing lots of trades without any issues.

Compared to tws or tradingview, at least for what I need it for...it's not worth anything. And the charts aren't THAT great, good enough - sure, but not above average in anyway.

Charts are very good, but main power comes from algo trading, you have full power of c# at your disposal.

I understand. If that were my thing then it would probably be different. I'm sure its a great program for a lot of people, I'm just not one of them.

  9. Poop because you're not offered full functionality out of the box for free? Why would it be free?

That's just not fair. And you're the first I've heard saying TWS is better than Ninjatrader or any other software for free. The last I heard is that TWS is very dated.

Regardless, I'd love to hear which other platform you end up using that's better than both TWS and Ninjatrader and which is also completely free for use.

    Thank you.

PS: I'm under the impression that Sierra Charts is a better platform, but from what I understand it has a very high learning curve and looks like it was created in 1980 if you care about visuals and design. I considered it, but the time to learn a platform seemed like a waste as I had more pressing matters.

Poop because they don't offer some VERY basic functions out of the box. I can understand being restrictive with their platform for a general free download version...but if you are using them as a brokerage they should allow more functionality. Poor business model. Offer the current free version to any and everyone like presently -> give brokerage customers the lease version -> offer a lifetime license for $$$.

Or hell, continue to charge for the leased version but $720 a year??? Please listen to me...as this is the crux of the matter: their charts aren't shit. Tradingview's charts are far and above better and their "pro" upgrade is $155/year...21% of NT's cost for a better product.

TWS is so far and above a more refined product than NT8 its almost painful. You can have as many tabs as you like open for starters, their customizable workspace is so much cleaner its crazy, Their order entry window is so much cleaner, their automatically pulling up multiple contract dates is much better, watchlist/portfolio better, don't get me started on their options window and tools and equities tools, etc...

Next step is going with AMP+TradingView and I will buy their upgraded platform because 1) it has the nicest charts...i would often find myself using them even while actively using TWS. and 2) Its an extremely nice product for a reasonable amount of money.

PS: I dont think I will go with sierra basically for the reasons you stated.

PSS: I apologize for being a bit abrasive.
