    Hi all,

I just wonder if I can display tick chart (like 512tick chart of ES) on NinjaChart which uses IB as data feed?

    Thanks a lot!

  2. No, IB sends out snapshot data which is not real tick data. One of their biggest faults.

  3. Fortuneteller is only half right.

Because the maximum packet rate from ib is 10 per second you never get more than 10 "ticks" per second. That means that you see less ticks than the market has at busy periods (for very busy markets).

    But.

Most use tick charts to spread the bars out at times when there is a lot of activity. This gives one better/more sensitive entries on breakouts or times of buy/sell conflict. And IB tick charts actually work fine for that.

But they are not the same as one from an "all ticks" provider. For ES you might need to set your chart to somewhere between 1/3 and 2/3rd the number of ticks as someone using esignal (just count total ticks in the day to get a ratio).

  4. Correct, they are not even close. Best advice is to find real tick data. IB might be good for other things, but tick charting is not one of them.
