Niederhoffer In Trouble..... Again !!

  1. Thoreau,

Isn't it true that you were long S&P futures concurrent with the Dec08 1100 and 1000 short puts? Didn't the long S&P futures contribute to the 97% loss in Matador?

  2. Well. Interesting points about there not being enough stat data. The problem with that assertion is the data we have represents the entire spectrum of data. It is complete unlike the data in the natural world where we only have a subset. Therefore. Your premise is wrong.

  3. Dear asiaprop,

That comment of the lack of silverware was not funny at all. No wit or intelligence... It appears that I cannot be impressed by a glib remark or a pithy comeback from a troglodyte such as yourself. Truly I feel nothing but compassion for your parents, and you are likely either unemployed or an out of work pizza delivery boy? that used to have a five hundred dollar account at TD Ameritrade. Perhaps, a year ago, you bought one lonely option on the thinkorswim platform? And then you watched helplessly as your put option expired worthless and your five hundred dollar account turned into a fifty dollar account. Sigh... I understand I suppose how that must feel. I reckon I may be a bit harsh on you, but I reviewed your comments and I have maintained a proper notion of just who you are. I am an exceedingly compassionate, humble, and forgiving man, but that "silverware" comment you made was my breaking point.

You dare paint "The Chairman" as a pariah? You, with your Lilliputian sized trading account and complete lack of understanding of the world of trading, can dare disparage anyone? I have merely snickered at the benign vituperative remarks on this thread, as most of the contributors have been unequivocally mislead and misinformed. Of that I can forgive...But the attacks have gotten personal, and my mild amusement is slowly brimming into anger. In you, I see not any redoubtable foe or intellectual equal, but someone from the MTV generation who can name all the characters in the Lord of the Rings movies and watches ridiculous reality shows like "Jersey Shore". Stop salivating over "Snooki" (of maybe in your case "The Situation"), turn off that television, and start reading some books of substance on trading. Then, perhaps you will complain less, attack others less, and grow your trading account into a size large enough that can finance a respectable dinner date (and not a 2 for $2 hot dog special at 7-Eleven).

  4. I did hear about all the cars, boats, and houses that Victor financed when the trades had to be unwound. I do not really hold at fault the locals who did profit from the trades. They were just picking up the pieces. It is well explained in the Victor's books regarding their function as detritivores.

It was gross negligence, and utter price manipulation, that led to the lawsuit, which was won by Victor and his team. Gabfly and others have been misguided and misinformed. That was not a case of someone taking advantage of a bad series of trades. That is fair in business and war. However, what transpired in 1997 was a series of unethical and clearly illegal manipulation of prices that led to Victor having a difficult trading day. The withholding of a certain lines of credit also made the trading day especially perilous.

  5. Nothing of what I mentioned in my last post was supposed to be funny. But having read your reply made me smile, each time someone mentions 1997 or VN's lost silverware collection he seems to completely lose control.

I am only confirmed in my opinions of VN, that he is a man who cannot forgive his past mistakes and failures, well, mostly because he does not even want to recognize them. He rather blames others for his mistakes. No regrets, no admission of wrongdoing, no nothing. What a pitiful approach to life.

Nothing of what you wrote about me is in the slightest correct, not even the broker through whom I execute my personal trades. ;-)

I hope you will find your peace some time down the road but I am afraid from your comments that you are still quite a bit far away...

  6. ouch, well written reply. But maybe we should all ask ourselves now: Do we want to give money to a trader/manager who sinks our accounts because he has ONE "difficult" day? LOL

  7. Gabfly,

Your ignorance is only exceeded by your charmingly naive suppositions. I still do not deviate from the possibility that you are a dopey little boy playing "casino" on your daddy's E Trade account funded in addition by your credit cards. I did not appreciate the casting of aspersions and not so subtle remark that I am crying foul over a fair move. It is acceptable to corner an opponent and exploit their weaknesses... if the rules of the game are followed. I do play quite a bit of chess and trading shares a frontier with that game. However, ovver and over again, in Victor's case, the rules were violated to tear a good man and his reputation down. I will give you the "benefit of the doubt" that you wish Victor well, only a dose of humility. However, please understand that I am quite a deeply humble person. I am keen to gain an insight to why have such a "chip" on your shoulder. Playfully, I would love to challenge you in any game of intellect. As I observed in a TV interview on a UFC fight... put bluntly and simply, "I will crush you."

    Yours truly,
    T

BTW, I am coarsely jesting, but I have not figured out if you are doing in kind.

  8. Dear Gabfly,

May I call you "Gabby"? Rather, I am curious to the etiology of your ridiculous moniker. Indeed, it seems a play on words of the term "Gadfly" right? I understand that "Gadfly" is a term for people who upset the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or just being an irritant. The term "gadfly" (Ancient Greek: μυω̃ψ, myops) was used by Plato in the Apology to describe Socrates' relationship of uncomfortable goad to the Athenian political scene, which he compared to a slow and dimwitted horse. You are keen to assume that role? Upsetting the status quo and being ever so cynical? I ask that you reevaluate your cause, seek to become awakened. Living the life that you lead can only result in a more miserable existence. Please read some books on inner spirituality to gain heightened levels of awareness.

Larry Williams is a friend of mine, and has a beautiful daughter that is a famous Hollywood actress that dated and had a child with the late actor Heath Ledger. Please do not dare castigate him again. If you do that again, then you and I will have words...

  9. Dear asiaprop,

That rather silly remark of yours hinted that the thread contributor is homosexual. While that is not an insult, in and of inself, you clearly spoke it to berate him. I am rather pleasantly amused by you and your silly little comments. While I confess that I have been vexed by you, I quickly become tolerant to you, rather like a lion is entertained by the mouse that runs along his feet. You present yourself to this message board like a little troll from one of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, exclaiming "My Precious" as he clutches onto his new Justin Bieber CD.
