  1. I read somewhere he makes close to 40 mill a year off his movies so all he has to do is go back to zero and in 1 year he is rich again.

    Johnny Depp to the rescue:

"It seems as if not even Hollywood is exempt from the fact that life has a tendency to come full circle. Nicolas Cage saw his finances crumble this year, leaving the actor currently facing a tax bill of over $5 million. While Cage is in the process of suing his former financial advisor for mismanaging his funds, it looks like his dire financial straits may be temporarily fixed, and by none other than fellow A-lister Johnny Depp.

In a true "that's what friends are for" move, the Public Enemies star has reportedly called his old friend to let him know that he will front "whatever he needs" to get him out of this crisis. Depp is generous in his financial and emotional support, possibly seeing the move as a way to pay Cage back for launching Depp's stellar career: It was Nic who arranged for Depp, then an unknown musician, to meet with his agent, which led him to A Nightmare on Elm Street."

  5. The economic downturn has not affected Johnny Depp. Depp was in Chicago this week for the premier of his new film, Public Enemies. While in the ‘windy city’, Depp ate at Gibsons Steak House, and left the waiter a $4,000 dollar tip!

Among the accusations laid out in Levin's the 12 page cross-complaint to Cage's lawsuit against are the below:

    • By the time he had hired Levin in 2001, Cage "had already squandered tens of millions of dollars he had earned as a movie star" and owed millions in unpaid income taxes.

    • Levin advised him that he needed to earn $30 million a year to keep up his lavish lifestyle.

    • Levin tried to stop the financial bleeding, persuading Cage to sell off a dozen of his automobiles and his $1.6 million comic book collection.

    • Following a string of box office hits, Cage went on an "epic spending spree." According to Levin, in 2007 the National Treasure star purchased three homes at more than $33 million; 22 cars, including nine Rolls Royces; 12 purchases of expensive jewelry and 47 pieces of artwork.

    • Cage "spent huge sums of money taking his sizable entourage on costly vacations and threw enormous Gatsby-scale parties at his residences."

    • By 2008, Cage owned 15 palatial homes around the world, four yachts, an Island in the Bahamas, and a Gulfstream jet.

While in his lawsuit Cage alleges that he was in the dark about his dire financial situation, Levin claims he did everything short of cutting up the actor's credit cards, including warning Cage's agents and representatives and pleading with him not to buy more real estate.

"[Cage] knows that his losses are entirely and solely the result of his own compulsive, self-destructive spending, which he engaged in against Levin's advice," states the complaint.

  7. Good for him! 4k to Depp means nothing but to that waiter that's rent for a few months. It's good to see big stars like Johnny doing good deeds like this.

  8. I just don't understand why he needed so many castles. Plus luxury property needs someone to take care of it unless he was renting it out, so that also costs money. Its obviously Cage's fault, his manager never told him to go and buy a ton of castles.

It would be different if the manager had access to Cage's bank account and took $ millions out to wire to a Swiss Bank account, that would be fraud.

The good news is Cage will be in more movies and should be able to make enough to pay off some back taxes plus sell enough property to get out of debt even if he has to sell some for a loss.
