NFLD... LEAP Covered Call Play

Discussion in 'Options' started by jllm03, Nov 2, 2006.

  1. You all realize why this is pulling back right?? This AM, news hit about NUVO -- the FDA rejected their revolutionary blood clot drug. The stock is down over $15.00 per share.

Do we know for sure if the FDA will or wont make a decision on NFLD this week???

    That was a big hit.
Just get to Friday expiration with out a drop like that and I will be happy.

  4. Good for you! I am always happy for fellow traders making moves and scores. I am just giving you a friendly word of caution. I know those Jan 5 puts look delicious to sell write now bidding .50, but you do know of course that in the next 2 weeks or less, the FDA decision is going to hit. And you do realize, if its not favorable, this stock could tank by as much as 80%. Just be careful.

You may want to consider a different strategy that will capture and maximize this drastic movement as opposed to hoping with your fingers crossed that your short OTM puts dont get crushed.

  5. Oh, I hear ya, it's just such a good feeling to get one really right once.
Even if that decision wasn't coming down in a couple of weeks, it would seem like I'd be going to the well one too many times.
    I haven't forgotten NUVO...$20 to $2.50...poof.
I hope my post wasn't perceived as gloating, it just felt darn good.
There are so many good ideas here at ET, and good people who are generous with their knowledge.
    Thanks again, everyone.

    I hear ya too...
I going to wait this one out for a while to decide "IF" I am willing to try it again.
I would need a good pull back first to bring the put options price back up a little.

  7. Amazing - someone hit the bid on a bunch of the JAN 5 put strikes at .50. One block was for over 700 contracts. That will be a really nice chunk of change to pocket. I can not believe people are willing to sell these options. Is that decision going to hit by year end?? I still think if you did spreads on both sides, you could make money or just flat out long the 15 strike call & put together.
