  1. they've been working together for quite a while now, on quite a few bipartisan bills, eg lately http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/nation/16439678.htm

... but beyond those couple of bills, they represent a bipartisan "way" forward in an otherwise bitterly divided country...

and of course they are gonna have very different takes on pretty much every other key issue, otherwise there isn't gonna be much scope for bipartisanship style government now, is there..................

  2. you're talking about this i guess http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/news_theswamp/2007/01/obama_and_mccai.html interesting... hadn't seen it cause i've managed to carve myself a life in japan / asia, away from all this lingering 60 year+ middle east double bind you've made for yrselves, and lets not talk about south america...

in any case, mccain is right on this, and obama "knows" it... but a Dem is a Dem, he is not going to approve it, even with a gun to his head... so what? as long as the job gets done...

  3. This probably belongs in the jokes thread, but it pretty much sums up my feeling towards politicians.

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on US 95 South, just outside of
    Washington.

Nothing is moving north or south. Suddenly a man knocks on his window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What happened?" What's the hold up?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped George Bush, Dick Cheney, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and John Kerry.
They are asking for a $100 million ransom.
Otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire.
We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "On average how much is everyone giving?"

    "About a gallon."
