Newt Gingrich should have been a comedian

  1. Totally agree. But let me tell you: I don't think Newt "has it" to get elected. He tried to "smart talk" Maria Barteroma in the debate and was sounded shut-down IMHO.
He's going to have to do much better than that to win the nomination.

  2. Well, growth in the public sector has outpaced the private sector not just in the past four years, but really ramped up following 9/11. As the private sector contracts AND as there are growing numbers of folks dependent upon government safety-nets, it only stands to reason that the party that promises to keep it going has/will become formidable for this reason alone.

Ron Paul could beat Obama. But the Republicans are too stupid to realize that. So, they'll nominate some lower life form like Newt Gingrich or Romney and hand another election to the Democrats, just like they did in 2008.

  4. I just read that Gingrich is the last alternative of the far right, in other words, most of the posters in P&R in that case.
    Is that true?

If you think the conservatives here are far right, you must not live in an area where people have non govt jobs.

Et conservatives are tame compared the conversations I hear on the golf course at barbeques and from old people.

I was verbally attacked by and old guy helping a veteran in a parking lot. He told me I voted for Obama and would lose my job in 18 months. He said I had no respect for veterans and that the guy he was walking landed on Normandy.

I thanked the vet and told the guy that I was paying his socially security and that if he really wanted America to change he had to stop taking his handouts as well.

    (true story)

But, the only people I have voiced even a little support for are Trump, Paul and Newt. Newt almost fixed america with his contract for america... he might still be able to clean out washington.

  6. I bet you'd vote for Sandusky if he was running too.

  7. There was a time, you know, not so long ago, when the only place I saw or heard a right-winger go on about Social Security was on the editorial page of Barron's and of course its letters pages, but that was about it.
That standards have changed doesn't make you any less far to the right, any more than a 60s liberal wasn't way over to the left just because at that time everything had shifted left. (Yeah, I know, Obama's a socialist and all the rest. By the standards of the 60s, he's a Rockefeller Republican; I find him indistinguishable from Nixon, who was in fact such a beast. By the standards of today, a Rockefeller Republican is a Democrat.)

Laugh all you like. In a Paul vs. Obama race the media would be 110% in favor of Obama (even Faux News, because Obama is more willing to fight neocon wars) so everybody will know they should vote for Paul.
