Newbie Question: What does this mean?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by caplan8293, Jan 12, 2004.

  1. I saw this on a trading journal thread:

    "26 fills for 2.84 cents/share traded, or $1.48 overall."

What does this mean and why do people post this stuff? I don't see how it could help other people in their trading but I see posts like this all the time on ET...

Thanks for your help (and patience).

  2. I think what you're seeing are people posting results on the Opening Order strategy threads here on ET. There's been multiple threads on this strategy posted by Don Bright.

They may be letting each other know how many of their opening orders were filled (26 out of 30?, 100?, 1000?) and they netted out $1.48 times how ever many shares they were trading (which your example doesn't give).

To learn more do a search for Opening Orders and Don Bright as the poster. That'll identify the threads to look at. Then when you've got a LOT of time you can read through them.
