New York Post Article - Is Trump Winning His Trade Wars?

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by ironchef, Oct 7, 2018.

  1. Isn't "record trade deficit" what Trump is trying to correct? After all, trade deficts are a negative for American producers. And you can't reverse trade numbers "on a dime".

Odumbo "gave away the farm" on trade. Trump isn't seeking to put America "into the catbird seat" on trade balances... you know, like requiring China run a $Trillion trade deficit with the US... just trying to rectify the harm Odumbo caused.

EVERY COUNTRY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE EXPORT EDGE! But it's a zero-sum game.... and America has been on the shit end of that stick for far too long.

And of course... foreign countries, who had been "handed the keys to the city" by Odumbo, are whining like little girls at the prospect that they may no longer have the trade export edge that Odumbo gave them.

I am sure it was nothing beyond good Christian upbringing and all the stories are false :p

LOL, it was roaring way before he got into the office. Thank the Fed (and global CBs) instead.

Regarding the "Snowflake" remark and the associated fragility. It used to be that the Republican party was the party of winners. An average republican I met was a guy like myself, making money and using his voting power to progress their agenda. It was a party of people rooted in reality and the free-markets spirit was strong with them.

Since the global financial crisis, the Republican party has transformed itself to a party of obvious losers. Today, the average Republican voter is a guy that got hurt by the post-crisis world and now is angry at everyone. To me, that's a sure sign of a loser. A winner would never say "make America great again" cause he doing great as is. He'd never blame anyone, be it immigrants, gays or liberals, cause he figured out how to win regardless of circumstances. So if anyone deserves the snowflake remark it's the people that brought the current administration to power.

PS. I am not going to argue any further, as it will certainly be pointless.

Most Americans are in the middle and lean slightly one way or another.

I understand why people don't like Trump but his ideas are certainly above average.

Americans are not hearing many ideas come from the left, and this is why Trump is in office. I believe the democrats will not win the house and it is simply because there are very few ideas coming from the democrats.

Polls are completely skewed... if you put a trump sign outside of your house or on your car... you will get vandalized... at least where I live.

33% of Americans are Independent, they are certainly not vocal about trump in fear of getting vandalized.

If the left had some ideas... they can gain some ground on that 33%...that's the solution but all I hear on tv is extremists... which is not what Americans are.

Trump still remains the underdog, and americans always root for the underdog because that is what they do in sports.

Funny when they talk about US trade deficits. We accumulated $18 trillion deficit way before Trump got into office. Blame it on the past US Presidents who ran it up! Obama ran up $10 trillion in 8 years and nobody even talks about it! Ridiculous to the extremes! The $1.5 trillion in deficits resulting from the tax cuts went to your pockets so, if you do not want it, just send it to the IRS. Write them a check and I assure you, they will cash it! Also, that stimulus creates jobs, increases taxes collected and will be monies well spent! It will pay for itself! If you are basing your investing or trading decisions based on your hatred for Trump, you are only hurting yourself! Keep doing it! We need dumb money in the market.

Pretty in-depth article. Whether you have an open mind or not is certainly up to you. Even if argue without refuting any of the facts being brought to light, the idea that Trump parlayed a 1 million dollar loan to his reputed "billions" is certainly brought into doubt. That with his refusal and broken promise of revealing his tax returns adds to the preponderance of evidence.

And instead of devolving the conversation into inflammatory language, please just refute any of the claims in the article with an actual data point.

Then from what you say, money out of politics, single payer healthcare, fair due process for all are not ideas?

These ideas are not at the top of the list on people's minds, democrats are trying to find solutions that people don't care enough about.

Here is what people care about:
    JOBS
    ECONOMY
    SECURITY
    LOW TAXES

I looked at a poll on hispanics, illegal immigration was 5th on their list as far as ranking concerns. What do we hear on TV?

That's because people are STUPID AND GREEDY! They don't ascribe proper significance and risk that comes from the existential threat of illegal immigration.

The single greatest threat to our American way of life is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!!

Hmmm, no, the popular vote won by Clinton, Obamacare prevailing and the polarization of Kavanaugh demonstrates it is exactly what are on people's minds.

What is being brought to the surface of this polarization is the structure of the US political system.

It was designed by white supremacist slaveowners on stolen indigenous lands to protect their embedded interests.

Kavanaugh is the poster child of entitlement and the demonstration of these interests. If it wasn't for gerrymandering and active voter suppression the scales of justice would have balance but now there is a big fat thumb on it that is becoming more and more evident to plainly see.
