  5. yeah, i never had anything quite like them, loved it!

    had to drive the car in for repairs on 73rd, walked by the place on the way back to midtown, remembered this thread and gave it shot--- will definitely be back, excellent!

    Burgers: a really good place is the shake shack in Madison Square park... Danny Meyer has the beef delivered from the same butcher that supplies some of the best steakhouses in NYC.... and it costs only $ 6 or so...on the other extreme, there is DB Bistro, with a $40 burger that is actually worth it (with foie gras, brisket etc... unbelieveable).

  9. People have been saying New York had more "character" 10 years ago.. for the past 100 years. Read some history and literature. Maybe start with Anatole Broyard..

  10. New York had tons more character before Guliani tried to turn it into Mayberry.

    ..you know, when you could find Charles Bronson around, and Times Square was filled with the aroma of pole grease.
