New York City tax question

Discussion in 'Taxes and Accounting' started by stock777, Feb 16, 2003.

  1. I'm sure there are many of you that live in NYC and trade as sole proprietors.

What's been your experience with the NYC Unincorporated Business Tax? Are you getting hit with this burden or are you exempt? I've looked at the forms and some web based commentary and it's still not clear.

Seems there's some differentiation between an 'entity' and an individual that may be a problem. Comments please.

As far as I know there is no way around it. If you are a sole proprietors you have to pay. Even if you become an LLC, this headache still remains.

This is the price we have to pay living in the greatest city in the world ( Did you buy a gas mask yet? ):p
