Yup, the i7 vs i5 debate is hilarious. That alone is great indicator... Years ago I set a task for myself to trade off a single standard monitor, so I could trade anywhere and under any conditions. That was the best thing that happened. I agree with the orator above who emphasised the need for redundant communication lines.
Get used monitors u save tons of money because monitors can cost more than the pc i personally think its a good idea to spend i would say no more than 1500 on the pc as your first trading loss Worth it The multiple monitors also come in handy in an array of many other none trading items personally i got 6 monitors i use 3 usb to dvi and ive had this set up for ofer 8 years Same pc
N set up one or Two monitors upright for your options chain or pdf files Lolz But nothing important though
On the weekends because of the coronavirus my shared internet (also known as your standard issue neighborhood trunk WAN you buy from Comcast or whatever) will go from the advertised speed of 300Mbps down to 490 kbps down. I lose 99% of my throughput immediately because 200 of the people trunked with me are watching 4k pornhub and netflix all night. There's no SLA for residential lines - the provider simply "tries their best" to match you. Last weekend at 11pm my internet became completely unusable even for checking the news. Calling my provider gave me exactly what I expected - "you have no SLA and there is high load at the trunk right now, we can't do anything". If I had a T1 pipe I'd have a dedicated trunk to myself (and the closet in my house) where I wouldn't experience these things. If you're trading on the 1min and the guys smoking pot and beating off to 4k porn lag your connection you could miss a signal or get hosed. Due to the pandemic there is an unprecedented amount of coomers and consoomers gulping bandwidth consuming content down by the bucketful. There is absolutely a use for them. That's why every business has them.
Luckily i do not have that problem where i live, i always have the advertised speed and connection rarely goes down. I do trade from a laptop to one large monitor and i completely agree with you about overspending on the gear. I just made sure my setup was safe for when internet or power goes out. My laptop battery is almost always fully charged. I have 2 internet connections, both attached to a small backup battery. One is an ethernet line and one is a 4G modem so i still have a connection if my regular connection goes down.
Idk what side of the world u live on but i know day traders and they pay 49.99 for their internet iam Not day trading so i dont know but if 400-600 a month for internet then 2k on equipment trading rig is not bad
And where did i agree with that? I don't know his situation ... If i would have a crappy internet connection where i live and that is what i would need to be able to trade and earn my living i might also do it, if there where no other solutions .. You need a decent connection, you don't need a $2000 rig to trade.
