New Trading Computer

  1. Assuming these are the correct cables, they cost $16.99.

No reason to skimp here.....shielding and nylon mesh coating will be prudent.

Question if we choose to get a 10,000 RPM SCSI hard drive will this change the cable choice?

2nd. Question; any idea about fans?

  2. Positioning and speed of fans to create a positive or negative flow might be discussed here. The use of filters could also be discussed. If we are not carefull the net effect of a lot of fans and the vacuum created might be an issue.

Question: do we pull air into the case and exhaust it out the back?

Question 2: being that the power supply creates heat...is there an optimum way to blow air past it?

  4. Cooling is important to maintain a constant room tempurature for componet life and function.

I have read that the P4 will throttle down in speed when its tempuature probe records high tempuratures.

P.S. We will water cool our next computer.

  5. 2.67 P4 chip, 512 megs PC2700 DDR RAM, FIVE PCI Slots, 40 Gig Drive, 48X CDR, WIN XP Home.

    Total cost DELL: $413.00. Delivered!

I pushed in four dual 450's cards when it arrived and plugged it in. That's it, works like a charm.

Two or three years from now I will throw it away and buy another. While you on the other hand will be pi$$ing around upgrading and adding this and adding that and trying to get it all to work...i'm sipping pina coladas by the pool

BYO is a waste of time IMO.

  6. "I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain.
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get himself a big dish of beef chow mein.
    And I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada @ Trader Vic's
    And his hair was perfect!"

  8. Fujitsu has a scsi 15,000 rpm drive.

Is it better to get a 68 pin or 80 pin?

    $583.00/$565.00 both versions are pricey.
