Thank you for posting these links, the second one is especially informative and underlines the value of understanding market microstructure. The reserved specialized order types to jump the queue was particularly insightful as well as Thomas Peterffy's, diy futuristic ipad and mechanical keyboard in the early 80's.

I want to get into arbitrage in general. Where do I start?

 

Rub yourself one out like a gentleman. It helps to compensate. Then go back to being whatever you are currently being and continue doing what you have been doing. That is honestly the best advice you can get on this forum. You simply can't make it in this endeavor with this mindset. Trust me you will only get hurt. It's not meant for you nor is it in your DNA. This is not meant to be condescending but the best advice I can give you from observing for so many years people who made it and who did not make it.

Study trends, 10 year/ 17 year trends, 2017trends....... .And if you make a profit, in 1 or 2 years; not so fast, bearTrends usually on last 2 years, 3 sometimes. IBD books help, Jack Schwager Top Trader books help ; skip the ForeX.Easy to become a millionaire on HIT 5 minute charts.- on a brokers sim ONLY.I cant hardly read small, dark, printed, in low light IBKR 2weeks calender; but a good idea, because most use 7 day calender

 

If you can make intel processor yourself you will be able to make HFT yourself.

Thomas Edison [GE founder][sat on some eggs as kid[,ostrich eggs roll downhill] . The chickens came home to roost on GE downtrends.And just because some do better in 1st hour + last hour-does NOT mean i want to.; especially n a bear trend/200dma. BUT i can see why some want to squeeze the last 5 minutes noise LOL.[Edit this is not Europe, a HFT tax may not hurt me @ all+ i cut the last 7% or 3%of that HFT tax/tariff =stupid suggestion video.
