You think perhaps Nvidia would not include the adapters? Maybe not, I was just thinking they would.

Regardless, I'd choose something else for any new rig... like an x38 mobo and 2x, FX570s if planning to run 30"ers.

  2. To connect a displayport to DVI requires a circuit within the adaptor to actively convert the signal to a different format, rather than just changing the physical connections - so having four such adaptors would cost almost as much as the card.

So I'd certainly agree that a couple of the FX570s is a better option, at least for the versatility of having DVI connections - unless the OP was definitely getting four 30"s.

ESPECIALLY if getting 4, 30"ers. The FX570 is dual DVI, dual-link, 2560x1600. Perfect choice, actually.

  4. The NVS450 runs four 30"s at 2560 x 1600 as well. With the benefit of being fanless, using less power and leaving another slot free for later adding that second four 30"s...

    Hi BigFunky,

These are valuable points. In fact I was thinking of getting this motherboard (3x16):
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_nforce_790i_ultra_sli_us.html
and being able to put 3 graphics cards, each supporting 4 monitors (cheap Samsungs 2048 x 1152) to arrive at something like this in future (but for less money):

    P.S. Are there any 4 x 16 motherboards?

OK, Then I'll get one. I would be thankfull if someone could make a recommendation on a good motherboard with 4 x PCI e 2.0 x16 Slots (Intel processor).

    Thanks

Likely there are only a few... and rather costly.. maybe $350-$500 for the mobo alone, last I saw.

    Suggest Google search

    Hi guys,

I made the google search during the night. There are motherboards that have 4 x PCI-E x 16 slots (like Asus P5W64-WS), but all four slots cannot be run at the same time at the speed of x16.

They are configurable, like in X8, X8,X4,X8 or X16, X0, X4, X0 or yet differently.

So I will go for nForce 790i Ultra SLI MCP and get 3 (at the same time) x PCI-E x 16.

    Regards
