Yes please put the page numbers on top too. Also, earlier in my mail when i got a notification for a subscribed thread, i could see the new message posted on my mail, now i have to visit the site to see the message, i cant see it on my mail. Would be nice if you fixed this too.
No. Not going to happen. Look, if putting page numbers at the top made any sense whatsoever, all the best sites out there would do it, but they don't. Do a search on Google or any major search engine and you'll find page numbers only at the bottom. How about Amazon product listings? Yep, page numbers at the bottom. I just checked the top 50 web sites on the net and not a one of them put page numbers at the top. I'm not talking about bullshit sites here.... I'm talking about the best of the best that spend a ridiculous amount on R&D and user experience testing. So the answer is no.
I did watch the videos, but what I noticed is that although he cracks on smartphones and mobile usage in general, he's actually holding his smartphone in his hand while he's saying all that, which tells me he's probably way more of a power user of mobile technology that you realize.
If there are older attachments not showing up, then I will get those restored. In regards to pages loading slower, I don't really see the lag that you are seeing. And about an option to switch to an older theme, that won't happen either. Sorry, but there's no reverse gear on this train.
Overall liking the new design. Re pagination at top: Many high ranking sites have pagination controls at the top, particularly forums. After a couple of days of use I would agree controls at the top including a go to last post link would improve the user experience. Google and Amazon don't like users skipping over their (ad) content. Too efficient = less money.
Mine took me to a page titled, "teenage daughter's Fathers Day prayer" "Dear God, this year for Father's Day, please send clothes for all the poor ladies in daddy's computer, Amen"
anyway, thank you for your efforts into making ET a better place ,i know how much time and energy it takes for developing this website
Baron, you are clearly wrong here, and I am going to prove it easily. Well, let's see, BMT does it. Trade2win does it. Somethingawful does it. Sciforums does it. You know what they are??? MESSAGE BOARDS, just like ET! Amazon doesn't do it, because they are retailers and they want you to look through all the products before you go to the next page. For them it makes sense to force you to go and scroll through the whole page, but for a message board it doesn't. Edit: Actually, Amazon reviews (what is actually its message board) have page count on the top! In fact I challenge you to show me a message board beside reddit (they don't have pagenumbers on the bottom either) who doesn't have page numbers on the top...
