  1. I still think that losing the main page to the elitetrader.com link will cause heavy loss of traffic. Just a guess though...

The "main page" as you put it (assuming you're referring to the old page with the HOF threads on the left and the recent discussion threads on the right) will eventually be the destination when you go to www.elitetrader.com. The master plan is playing out as we speak. ;)

The "More Options..." button mostly greats the poster with a brand new ad, losing sight of even the last post, and really not offering any options that couldn't be made available through a dropbox.

I really suffer from a "tunnel" effect on this new site ... the left vertical banner is useless and wastes space, the "Forums" page is narrow because of that left banner plus the huge right ads banner, the "New Posts" page is a pain because it is limited to 15 threads.

Talking about that "New Posts" page, the pop-up on the thread title should display the last post of that thread, not the 1st one.

There might be great new features, but to me the look & feel is far worse than the old site.

I am old too. However, I am getting used to the changes ...primarily, by making this my new home page:

    http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index.php?find-new/4152/posts

I am grateful that there is a "go to first unread/new post" bullet. Also, there is a definite need for a page nav at the top of the page as well. I also would like to see a member join date up front so I can assess the poster.

Same here. I hate the fact that poster's info is now stretched across the page. This change is what most competitors have and I find it very distracting. Plus not seeing posters join date also makes it worse.

Not true. The more options give you the ability to add a poll to your post with the relevant options applying to polls, and also you have the ability to preview your post before it goes live. Perhaps "More Options..." isn't the best phrase. Maybe "Post a Poll or Preview your Post" or something specific like that would be better.

It's laid out this way primarily because of the variety of devices that have to be accommodated these days. It's easy to load up a bunch of poster info underneath a username (and then have the post content to the right of that) when everybody viewing the site is on a nice wide desktop like they were 5 years ago. But nowadays we have to also accommodate small laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. If you view a thread from your smartphone you'll probably have a much better understanding of why things are laid out the way they are.

Baron..you are the boss here. you right..you right about billions of people(i really hope that they all trade US stock market someday..all of them. together.i would be prosperous, if they do that or even if things could go back where they are (in terms of volume and market participants) 10 years ago)..you also right about twitter, facebook or whatever..social media...
the problem is-your site is for active traders. and active traders DON"T TRADE FROM a SMARTPHONE or ipad or whatever that f** thing is called. i don't have one. but i've done about 50-70 trades today.i don't have a facebook account and i don't have a twitter. wft should i post on linkedin? trading from home for last ** years? great resume!
i see no value in those services for me. one guy once said-smartphones and all that small s** is for USERS. you can't create s** on those devices. they are for consumers. well..unfortunately for me- i'm not much of a consumer. i can't speak for a rest of us-but i trade and do my research from PC. YES, a PC. feel free to call me an old fart or crazy russian. take your pick..

    as for rest-

i like that part from 41:00

    enjoy! :)

Ummm.... You might want to rethink that.

It took me about 30 seconds to gather the few links above from a few of our sponsors. So again, I know you may not fit into that category, but many people do, which is why I have to change things up occasionally in order to stay current.

Baron..that's my opinion. You did explain to me things from your point of view, and as I said -I understand that. I'm not arguing with you. Did you watch those youtube videos? That's my twin brother right there. Unhappy regardless..:)
