New IB Features

  1. I really need to comment on a couple of issues:

    1) these error messages are meaningless to everyone other than IB developers. Really need to add better error descriptions.

    2) Though the above error is not related to the API, its similar to what you get via API. When using the API, there should be no popup error messages ever (as others have already mentioned)

    1) The effort is already on the way to translate them from programmese to English.

    2) I mostly agree. Some pop-ups are unavoidable, e.g. an exchange requiring manual submission of orders.

  3. In ZB, I just had a resting (green) STOP (115'27) order ignored and traded through as if it didn't exist, as price got up from 115'23 to 116'02.

I waited for about 2min (in previous cases, sometimes the order might have triggered, but be late to get reflected on TWS itself)

I had to cancel the STP order by hand and enter a new order to to exit, via a LIMIT order.

This is a major problem, that I've experienced again and again over the years (late 2002, 1Q2003 etc) with IB.

I try not to rely on IB stops (held on IB's servers), using the native STPLMT in Globex instead, but in eCBOT there's no such option.

Do we have to do multiple threads?
    As per the other thread:

Yes, that will always happen because stops will not work at this time on the ECBOT, as per our website..

"ECBOT.....Specifically, stop-market orders will not trigger prior to 09:30 EST. Customers wishing to use stop orders should select stop-limit orders and ensure the ‘trigger outside of RTH flag’ is activated."

  5. Frankly, I find it quite odd for IB to use its own RTH (09:30 - 17:00 EST) definition for all eCBOT markets, regardless of what the official RTH of those markets might be.

Bonds RTH (open out-cry) are 08:20-15:00EST.

Instead, the IB eCBOT STOPS in US bonds are only triggered between 09:30 (1hr10 after official bonds RTH) and 17:00 ?

  6. Also, IB should fix the PnL reporting in TWS.

Both the realtime MTM PnL on the symbol's line on workspaces (happens everyday, I practically ignore TWS unrealized PnL nowadays), but most importantly the "Account"->PnL display are wrong on occasion.

PS: This particular issue has been going on for over 6 months!

Get Zerolinetrader. I use it. It will keep stops on your machine and execute them for you. Zstops and zstoplimits.

Agreed; the RTH hours are not logical for all the products. We are working on rectifying it. Until the product based "liquid hours" are on-line, please set the "trigger outside RTH"; that will make your stops trigger during all hours. Thank you.

Could you please PM me a screenshot and point out which number(s) is/are wrong? Thanks.

  10. IBsoft, I'm not sure I understand.

It's (now) my understanding that IB STOP orders for eCBOT are ignored outside of 09:30-17:00EST, regardless of "trigger outside RTH" setting. I.e. they don't work for the first 1hr10min of US bonds (ZB/ZN etc) RTH.

I assume you mean to use STPLMT+"trigger outside RTH"; which is also simulated by IB for eCBOT and again has had it's problems on occasion:

    http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=817996#post817996

In addition, some API-front-ends don't support custom offset for STPLMT, which makes e.g. Ninja useless for markets like mini-oil (QM). (ofcourse 3rd party apps isn't IB's fault, but offering simple working STOPs for eCBOT would be helpful)
