I like your post; thank you.

We would very much like the TWS to be the fastest and meanest trading application beast out there. While I disagree with the assertion that the tick-by-tick market data is faster than what we provide, I would love to hear about specific issues/problems/enhancements that you think should be addressed. Please PM me when you find time to do so.

    Thanks.

I have been scalping for over a decade. It would have been great to have something like TWS 10 years ago. I have not seen the problems you are seeing with TWS in regards to speed. The commissions for Nymex are the best going IMO (8 bucks cheaper than if I use my other broker and or TT). As far as the data speed goes, I have not seen any problems. It is inexpensive and for the most part over the last 4 months it has been right on top of expensive data feeds (like CQG etc--). I have quite a number of friends who are now using IB for various things. I have not heard any complaints from them. Every trader I know using IB is pretty astonished at what a trader can get for just depositing some cash in an account. I have called customer service maybe twice in 4 months and emailed a couple times -----and it was not a bad experience. Calls were answered in good time. Now I will have to say---they are not exactly FIMAT in regards to customer service ---but they are not shooting for that. I have not seen the problems I hear everyone complain about (with the exception of option trader using up tons of resources on my machine). Just my 10 cents.

Anyone with IB TWS problems should delete the log.mon, log.tue etc files in jts and ibjts subdirectories. They can get very big, 7gb is my record, and slow the program down.

What is with this guy blaming other people / institutions for issues people have with IB?

You are seriously telling a client to go "read the manual"??!!! Are you kidding me??

You do not do that with clients. Sure, reading the manual is a great idea, but you are in no place to be telling clients to go read the manual. Whoever this "DEF" guy is with IB is giving the whole company a bad name. Next time I think about telling a friend to use IB I will remember jackass comments from this guy.

I hope you are not any kind of senior management with IB or I am closing my account ASAP.

I guess you will be closing your account then as I believe def run IB's asian operations.

I might add that his postings have been appreciated over the years.

    Cmk.....

I'll get right to the point. First of all, IB is a good broker, but no, they're not perfect.

    Now.....

I see from your registration date that you just "drove" up here. See those 38,000 registered members on the ET home page? Def ranks in the top 10, easily. He is a very helpful individual on this site. Your comments are really, really out of line.

Def is definitely not giving the company a bad name. LMAO.....and def must be too.

I am sure he has had some worthwhile posts in the past as he must be very knowlegeable, but telling a customer to go read the manual is a joke, and nothing anyone says here is going to make it OK to tell a customer to RTFM.

The best I can say is that the TWS is a very complex system. There are hundreds if not thousands of features. Many are intuitive but many are not. The manual (which is available on line and can be easily searched) can be of great help. In the time it takes to send an email or call CS, a more comprehensive answer can often be found on our web site in or in the manual.

Given that there is a great amount of money on the line when trading, to me it only makes sense to understand the full capabilities of the tools available. I'll stand by my comments.

I do agree with what you have said in terms of the need to understand what you are doing when using the TWS.
