New guys, now is not the time

  1. Temcmahon:

It is good you read IBD, etc. The closest you get to trading is IBD, but still it is not what one need to do. IBD list fund is down, and some people are unhappy.

Here is the BEST financial outlet to read: THE CHART of a stock. It contains everything including the SECRETS people hide but act upon. You need to learn how to read it. It is not difficult. That is one of the steps.

Once you get 4 other steps, and you practice, you would be able to nail the talking heads on TV including the hedge funders, and practically all the experts on TVs, and in newspapers.

Check the chart of this stock PVTB. It was telling that something nasty was coming days before they announced it, and then the bigger tank. I was watching it developed everyday. There is a simple way to detect these stocks.

Do not let them intimidate you. But I would not put a dime, until I figure it out completely. Wall street will always be there, as long as you have the money.

    Cheers!

The market is like a fat man that chews wallets, then spit them out while paying attention not to spit out the cash, which it makes sure it stays in.

Reminds me of a NatGeo piece I saw once about a huge gorilla who took bunch after bunch of bananas and, one by one with perfect rhythm pushed each banana into his mouth while simultaneously pulling the skin off, over and over, just as it cleared his lips. One big circular continuous motion, all with one hand (paw? :)

OK, here's a real newbie question. What's my best source for charts, including SPY, and any others? My "trading" has been short term: analyze, buy, take some profit, and buy something new. I made $10K on BX, for ex. Today my HGSI is up pre-market over 30% (yay!) I know I need tech/chart knowledge, but I don't even know what service/source to get good charts. It does seem to me that "end of day", not "real time" would be plenty for me just now, but I don't even know that, for sure. Can you help?

  6. First congratulations on your big win. A beginner, and you make 30% in one day. Imagine when you will grow bigger wings, what you will do to them out there. :)

I would never pay for a charting service Sir. There are plenty that are FREE. I once thought about starting a charting service where people would get paid just for charting at my site, and I would make money selling ads, and other free things to visitors.

Below is a link to one charting site I use, assuming you will NOT enroll in their paying service. You do not need it at all. Use just the free service. It is way more than you need. In case you decide to pay, let me know because we can get some money back and send it to charity.

In case you do not have Java, there is a link for non-java as well. Just click around, and if you have questions just ask, starting at
    http://www.prophet.net

    There is also stockcharts.com

When I first checked it, prophet.net is owned by one of those investment companies. I would be careful not to get give my email address and private information to them if you are like others and do not like to take the risk to be spammed/etc.

If you need real-time quotes, I will post a link to an article on where to get them (for free of course).

  8. Guys: Qs just went to 41.35. I am shorting them between here at up. I expect it to hit a sellers wall around 41.40, and retreat. I made the first shot at 41.35. Let us see how it pans out.
