Not necessarily. In the occurrence in the OP, there was no gun pulled (the article would have said a gun was pulled, or other weapon). Additionally, there is this thing called "situational awareness". You might want to look it up. Trolling, for the win.
I don't need to look up S.A., I've been at the martial arts longer than you. But you're right, I admit I didn't read the article. My point is, if everyone is armed, thieves will simply pull first, like they did in the wild west.
Really? I wasn't aware. Please tell me your martial arts background. SA isn't a martial arts thing, by the way. And if everyone was armed, there wouldn't be anywhere near as many robberies. Just because you get the drop on the guy in front of you doesn't mean the guy across the street won't get the drop on you.
Well, since our tyrants armed the murderous Mexican drug cartels with weapons in order to get their gun control in America, 'only' 200 people have died as a result. Who really are the terrorists? Hmmmm...
Not sure there'd be fewer robberies. Might be an article of faith. Maybe they'd be confined to white collar robberies after that. Martial arts since 1973. I'm guessing that's about longer than you've been alive. Of course that makes me old. : ) I've progressed, basically in this order, with overlap, through fencing, judo, boxing, shotokan, TKD and TSD, several Philippine styles using knives, swords, sticks (one hand and two), police techniques (won't share name), muay thai, and finally JKD, which incorporates many of these. I was a multi-range fighter before anyone thought of the term "MMA". And I practiced combat handgunning too, one summer. Ever done a forward roll with a loaded semi-auto tucked across your belly? : ) Not boasting, nostalgia.
Oh shit! Now he's a martial artist! LOL!!!!!!! Maybe we can have mr. Orlando beach come to FL and teach us some of his slick tricks and wicked moves? What comedy this is! Wow!
I don't take it as boasting, so don't worry. But I've been alive longer than 1973 - not much, though I started in Isshynryu (which had a heavy Judo influence), and took that for just under 20 years, long enough to get my nidan. At that point, I left the states, and while in Russia I paid for Система, which is taught to Spetsnaz troops (though not exclusively), and there was a mix of Krav Maga (probably because the instructor supposedly worked at Mossad before he came to Russia). Then, I am embarrassed to say, when I came back to the states and was in Maryland, there were no schools of any type around me but Tae Kwon Do within an hour's drive, so I broke down and took that for two years to remain flexible and to spar (the school I chose did a lot of sparring), though I got in trouble a lot because my sparring wasn't about tornado kicks and shit, but close combat. For the last two years, I've been a member of a school that specializes in Combat Jujitsu, taught in the way of the samurai, so we do a lot of kabudo (mostly katana). I've taken numerous pistol classes, and yes, that includes rolling. But do forward rolls (okami) with a live (sharp) katana, and then talk to me about difficulty
