Maybe the issue is more global than just the effect on our little eMini accounts. Margin borrowing appears to be what is fueling the bull market as of late. Increasing margins across all exchanges may temper the bull until real money flows back into the markets. And I doubt we'll see any real money flows back into the markets before next year and that will need to be accompanied by some "real" economic recovery not just the end of the downwards spiral. I believe the CME is just being a forerunner, an innovator, a forward thinking exchange - in an attempt to distance its self from the likes of the NYSE and such riff raff.
