Why don't you carefully read what I wrote. Once again Florida is the only state which is not collecting variant data -- either directly by the state and/or through private labs --- and reporting the variant data publicly to the residents of the state. I will not that most of the PCR test processing locations where the processing of tests is done and some tests surveilled for variant type via genome testing -- are for the most part performed outside of Florida in labs located in nearby states (Labcorp, etc.)
NYC is the most likely starting point for the entry of Omicron into the U.S. The second on the list is Florida (Miami). I have stated this previously.
It's in every country on the planet RIGHT NOW. Sux that the smartest people on this planet will not acknowledge this until after they see the "data". Move along, nothing to see here. How many fucking times does this point have to be driven home? How does nobody understand the scope of air travel? Drives me NUTS!
Up to 60 people catch suspected Omicron Covid strain after Christmas party If the outbreak in Norway is confirmed as the Omicron variant, it would be the largest known outbreak of it in the world https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/up-60-people-catch-suspected-25599635 Between 50 and 60 people are believed to have been infected with the Omicron Covid variant after a Christmas party in Norway. It would be the largest outbreak of the latest strain in the world, if confirmed. Reports said 50 people had received a positive PCR test after Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec's Christmas dinner at Louise Restaurant & Bar in Aker Brygge, Oslo, on Friday. Another 10 people have had positive lateral flow tests. Most of those infected had been at the dinner, reportedly held in a closed room. Later in the night the restaurant became a nightclub with several guests. It has not been confirmed to be the Omicron variant yet, but tests have ruled out the Delta variant, NRK reports. Head of the infection tracking team in Oslo west, Jorum Thaulow, told Avisa Oslo: "We have not received it definitively confirmed, but there are very strong indications that it is Omicron in this outbreak." The cases are being treated as if they have the Omicron variant with the correct self-isolation guidelines in place. One of those infected had recently been to South Africa, reports said. Little is known about the recently-discovered strain but there are fears due to its high level of mutation. Dr Jenny Harries, Chief Executive of UKHSA, said: “We are continuing our efforts to understand the effect of this variant on transmissibility, severe disease, mortality, antibody response and vaccine efficacy. “ Vaccination is critical to help us bolster our defences against this new variant – please get your first, second, third or booster jab without delay.
I think this may be a blessing in disguise. So far, all cases appear to be mild. If that stays the same then lots of folks will get infected with this less severe variant, leading to real herd immunity. And just to be clear, I'm vaccinated and getting ready to get booster. Having trouble finding J&J booster and don't want to mix vaccines.
