    From the article...

The study finds no evidence of Omicron having lower severity than Delta, judged by either the proportion of people testing positive who report symptoms, or by the proportion of cases seeking hospital care after infection. However, hospitalisation data remains very limited at this time...

    ---------

They either need more data considering it's very limited at this time or they need confirmation from the data of another country that has data not limited. In fact, its common knowledge for one research laboratory in one country to share their data with another research laboratory in another country during this Covid Pandemic.

Biden to deliver Tuesday speech on omicron variant as Covid cases rise

Biden has been receiving additional Covid briefings from his medical experts. Aides say he has told his team the message to the American public must be direct because of concerns that the omicron's more transmissible variant is expected to spread quickly, putting unvaccinated people at a higher risk while also posing a threat to those who have some level of inoculation.

Highly vaccinated countries thought they were over the worst. Denmark says the pandemic’s toughest month is just beginning.

Ever since the omicron variant emerged in November, the best hope has been that it might cause less severe sickness than the delta version it is competing with, which in turn might make this wave more manageable and help the transition of covid-19 into an endemic disease. But Denmark’s projections show the wave so fully inundating the country that even a lessened strain will deliver an unprecedented blow.

Denmark’s data shows people with two doses to be just as vulnerable to omicron infection as the unvaccinated. Those who’ve received boosters have better protection — a sign of hope — but meanwhile, about 3 in 4 Danes have yet to receive a third dose, making the majority of the country vulnerable.

How Long Does Omicron Take to Make You Sick?

Estimates for this exposure-to-symptom gap, called the incubation period, clocked in at about five days for Alpha and four days for Delta. Now word has it that the newest kid on the pandemic block, Omicron, may have ratcheted it down to as little as three.

If that number holds, it’s probably bad news. These trimmed-down cook times are thought to play a major part in helping coronavirus variants spread: In all likelihood, the shorter the incubation period, the faster someone becomes contagious—and the quicker an outbreak spreads.

Unvaccinated people who caught Delta have virtually no protection against Omicron infection, lab study suggests - but people who've had it AND been jabbed have incredible 'super immunity'
    • Austrian scientists tested blood taken from Delta survivors against Omicron and measured antibody levels
    • Only one out of seven samples produced enough of the infection-fighting proteins to neutralise Omicron
    • Suggests that prior infection alone offers virtually no protection against catching the highly virulent variant
    • But scientists believe people who have had Covid will still enjoy some protection against severe disease
