Imo, it’s a mathematical fallacy. The definition of “Fully Vaccinated” is constantly changing. Example today Bob has had both jabs, if Bob contracts the virus, it’s a “breakthrough”. Six months from now Bob is considered under-vaccinated because he hasn’t gotten a booster, the same as a plague rat, Bob gets sick. Somehow me thinks it’s not a breakthrough at this point, even though he’s been jabbed?
A mere 14 states don't report vaccinated breakthrough case data -- of course Florida is on the list. The remaining 36 states plus D.C. provide the largest publicly available dataset worldwide for vaccinated breakthrough cases covering millions of people. Why don't you total up the population of these 36 states plus D.C. -- and get a sense of the data set size.
We're using the definition of vaccinated as "had the full dose of the shot". Meaning two for Pfizer, one for J&J, etc.
Give it some time. Using those metrics it will go much higher. The protection from these vaccines is very time sensitive, unlike the measles vaccine your mentioned earlier. Personal observations, many I know who are fully vaccinated have had cases. Edit, the .5.% breakthrough is a crock. If it was that low there’d be no reason for anyone fully vaccinated to fear anything, anyone. Either the vax works or it doesn’t.

Most I know have had their boosters...France (south), Arizona, Kentucky, Illinois, South Dakota, and Québec, Canada. By the way, I'm located primarily in Québec, Canada. None of those fully vaccinated that I personally know have had a breakthrough Covid infection. Yet, I do know some not vaccinated that have had reinfections after believing in error they will have protection for more than one year from their first Covid infection...protection wanes for them too...similar to those that are fully vaccinated. I do expect a few of those that are fully vaccinated to get a breakthrough infection because they travel to different countries. Yet, I do expect it to only be mild infections because they're fully vaccinated instead of getting that dreadful phone call that the person is Hospitalized or Dead. What state or country do you reside in concerning those via your personal observations ??? * As I stated before to you, the Covid breakthrough infections are mild here in North America with only a few hospitalizations. Vaccines here are doing their primary job... to prevent or minimize Hospitalization and Deaths here in North America. In comparison, the Covid Hospitalization and Deaths for those not vaccinated is at an obscene level this year in 2021, and in some states of the United States... it's near the peak of 2020. Stop concentrating on breakthrough infections that are mild and follow the news on Hospitalizations and Deaths to understand the "why" of today's government public healthcare policies. Right now...Delta variant is kicking the shit out of those not vaccinated here in North American and it's still the dominant Variant of Concern in the hospitals. Too many people forgetting about what's causing the hospitalization problems right now here in North America and focusing too much on mild infections that require no hospitalization (very few). Seriously, we can have 1 million Covid breakthrough mild infections but have 1 thousand hospitalized not vaccinated people...the idiots will debate about the mild infections when the real problem are those being hospitalized by the Delta Variant...those not vaccinated. Also, as stated before to you, the Omicron initial wave will be mild infections among those that are vaccinated. The real concern is a few weeks away as Omicron spreads through the not vaccinated population in combo with the Delta Variant... Seriously, I have a few friends in the U.S. and France that are not vaccinated and now bunkering down (being more careful, wearing their face mask even outdoors while protesting)...the latter...somewhat funny. Last of all, I believe that we've had about +50 million Americans infected with Covid. That's 50 million people with some kind'uv immunity level depending upon when they had their 1st infection and which Variant of Concern they were infected with... Thus, there are some variables involved and hopefully the Covid infections remain mild with Omicron regardless of vaccination status. wrbtrader
